Stamps issued by the White movement (Бѣлое движенiе/Белое движение) of the Kuban (Кубань) territory
The Kuban Krai government reorganized postal communications in the second half of 1918. Monetary inflation and subsequent rise in postal rates caused a lack of sufficient stamps with the needed face value. Various essays were made for new Kuban stamps and also for combined Kuban-Don stamps but these were never adopted. The chief of the Ekaterinodar (Krasnodar) post office, Kalabukhov, pragmatically ordered to overprint imperial stamps with new values (in September 16, 1918). The Kuban overprints can be divided into three groups with separate issue dates, due to inflation and rising postal rates. All issues were typographed in Krasnodar, except two also locally produced overprints of Armavir.
In connection with the change of the political regime in Kuban the overprints stretch, from early 1920, out into neighboring gubernics and oblasts like Stavropol, Kislovodsk, Novorossiysk.
