The Prefontaine Building, built in 1909 by George McLaren and named for Father Francis X. Prefontaine, whose church was once located on the block divided by the oddly angled Prefontaine Place, which gave the Prefontaine Building its unique shape. The short-lived partnership of W.D. Van Siclen, Swope & Waterman were the architects.
