English: Metroline Travel Ltd is a London bus operator that was incorporated on 14 December 1988 as part of the splitting up of London Buses Ltd, which was one of the stages in the process of privatisation of London bus services. As a London Buses subsidiary, it adopted the brand name of Metroline, which appeared on buses in addition to the uniform branding already being used by London Buses before the split. The company was fully privatised on 7 October 1994 when it was sold in an employee-management buyout. The buyout was achieved using a holding company Metroline Holdings Ltd (incorporated on 11 June 1993), with Metroline Travel Ltd remaining as the operating company. In private ownership, the company adopted a new livery featuring a blue skirt on allover red, separated by a thin white relief line, and with a more prominent Metroline fleetname in white, with a diagonal orange stripe device extending from the top and bottom of the vertical portion of the 't'. After a period of independent ownership as a limited company within a limited holding company, on 30 June 1997 the ownership changed after holding company was floated on the stock exchange, becoming Metroline plc. On 17 August 1998, the plc expanded with the purchase of a neighbouring former London Buses operator, Category:MTL London Northern (MTL London), which was renamed Metroline London Northern Ltd. Rather than retaining this as a separate company however, the operation has been merged with the original operating company, Metroline Travel Ltd, adopting the same livery. On 21 March 2000 the plc was purchased by the DelGro corporation, which later became the ComfortDelGro corporation, which both led to the addition of the corporate name to the livery as a strapline, while retaining Metroline as the main identity. At some point, the orange device was removed from the logo, and later, the blue skirt was removed. The holding company has since been transitioned back to a limited company status, as Metroline Ltd, however the bus operating arm has remained as Metroline Travel Ltd.
