English: Masters Home Improvement was the trading name of an Australian Home Improvement chain from 2011 to 2016, operated by a joint venture between Australian Retailer Woolworths Limited and Mooresville (United States) based hardware chain, Lowe's. Masters was created as a way for Woolworths Limited to crack into the hardware retail space, which has been historically dominated by Bunnings Warehouse, which is owned by arch rival Wesfarmers. The two companies already competed with each other with groceries and general merchandise.
Simple English: Masters Home Improvement was the name of a series of hardware retail outlets in Australia. The chain was operated by both the Australian corporation, Woolworths Limited, and the United States-based hardware chain Lowe's. The first Masters Home Improvement store opened on 31 August 2011 to tradespeople and 1 September 2011 to the general public in Braybrook, a suburb in Melbourne. The last stores closed on 11 December 2016.
