Kilnaughton Chapel is derived from Gaelic Cill Neachdain. The bay is named from the chapel. Also called old chapel and old burial ground or St. Nechtan's Chapel, or Mechtan's church. Location is over the south of the beach of Kilnaughton bay. Not to be confused with the unknown partially restored chapel beneath the hill beyond the north side of the beach, which has one crisp wall featuring a crisp Gothic window. Old cemetery is not to be confused with the adjacent New Cemetery holding some casualties of both world wars, and the Military Cemetery, now nearly empty.
