English: John Bennett (1840-1907), British ceramic artist active in America in 1876-1907. Was Director in the "Lambeth Faience" Department at Doulton & Co in London. In late 1875 or early 1876, he immigrated to America and settled in New York City starting his own ceramic business; closed down it in 1882 and retired to his farm in West Orange, New Jersey where he spent time painting, sketching, and giving private art classes. He continued making pottery stamped "W. Orange - N.J." He was in London in 1891-1892 and in Chicago in 1906.
