English: The Ingels Block was built in 1889 by realtor Lauron Ingels at the Northwest corner of Occidental Way (then known as 2nd Ave S) and Jackson Street. Ingels purchased the lot in March 1889 from Edward H. Plummer, which was located directly behind his company, White & Co.'s office in the Dearborn Block. It was designed featuring elements of Italianate architecture popular in the early 1880s mixed with more contemporary Chicago School elements and massing. One of the first buildings completed on the block, it was occupied from the start by wholesale firms, which would eventually line Occidental Way.
