English: Hooks as hand tools feature one general layout – a simple hook with handle, no moving parts – but they may appear slightly different depending on specific use, handle shape, hook curvature, size, age, used material(s), manufacturer, and so on. Their naming commonly depends on actual usage, and names also differ considerably by regional traditions (e.g. "docker's hook" and "longshoreman's hook" are often used as main terms in coastal regions). One and the same type of hook can be e.g. generally called a "packing hook", or a "baling/hay hook" (in agriculture, when used for lifting hay or straw bales), or a "box hook" (when used for loading boxed cargo), etc. Other names apply to differences in shape and material of handles (D-handle hook, wooden handle hook, all-steel hook, etc.).
