  1. The "D.G. Elliot/Carl Akeley zoology expedition (1896)" aimed to collect mammal specimens.
  2. The "Carl Akeley British East Africa expedition (1905-1906)", allowed Akeley to collect the two large elephant specimens which are now displayed in the museum, inside the Stanley Field Hall.
  3. The "Daily News Abyssinian Expedition (1926-1927)", lastly, features the renowned wildlife artist Louis Agassiz Fuertes.
