We can ask ourselves the question of the real authenticity of this heterogeneous ensemble. Firstly, is the chassis-engine pair one of the four examples built to take up the challenge of beating the speed record of 200 km/h (held by an Italian car) before August 31, 1937 ? No number proven chassis but a convenience number, and probably the same is true for the engine which at Delahaye always bears the chassis number. The bodywork built in 1946 by Marius Franay's workshop during the reassembly of the car to replace the 1937 Grand Prix body was greatly modified to adapt it to a type 135 M chassis in the early 1980s ; it therefore had to be "reconstructed" during the recent restoration aimed at bringing together the 1936 rolling chassis and the 1946 cabriolet.
