English: 2032: The Legend of the Unfulfilled future is the first hour-and-a-half long electronic opera by Vladivostok composer Viktor Argonov. Continuing the traditions of such world famous works as "Juno and Avos", "Jesus Christ Superstar" and "The War of the Worlds", "The Legend of the Never-Forgotten" represents the first (as far as is known) domestic experience of creating a large-scale vocal and instrumental work with a focus on rhythmic electronic music (mainly with a direct rhythm). The arrangements are in the styles of techno-pop, electro/synth-pop, late disco, new age, "space" electronica. Being a non-classical work, the opera includes not only vocal arias and character dialogues, but also speech and instrumental numbers. Some fragments (arias of song form and instrumental compositions) can be perceived as nearly independent works, while others can not be isolated from the overall plot.

The plot of the work belongs to the genre of alternative history. The action takes place in 2032 in the USSR. This is neither anti-utopia, nor utopia, nor grotesque. Rather, an attempt at a fantastic rethinking of the communist idea, its painful romanticism and tragedy, the clash of the unattainable Christian ideal of universal love and rationalist economic goals. Individual love and universal love, local war and global war, the search for paradise on earth and the desire for self-destruction, artificial reason and human reason... There is no propaganda for or against, there is only a problem. And, like the fantasy genre, where the medieval setting does not mean the author's desire to return to the Middle Ages, here socialism also does not claim to be political pathos - it only creates an atmosphere, a certain aesthetic of what is happening.

Русский: Легенда о несбывшемся грядущем — первая полуторачасовая электронная опера владивостокского композитора Виктора Аргонова. Продолжая традиции таких всемирно известных произведений, как «Юнона и Авось», «Иисус Христос Суперзвезда» и «Война Миров», «Легенда о несбывшемся грядущем», при этом, представляет собой первый (на сколько нам известно) отечественный опыт создания вокально-инструментального произведения крупной формы с ориентацией на ритмическую электронную музыку (главным образом — с прямым ритмом). Аранжировки выполнены в стилях техно-поп, электро/синти-поп, позднего диско, new age, «космической» электроники. Будучи неклассическим произведением, опера включает в себя не только вокальные арии и диалоги персонажей, но и речевые и инструментальные номера. Некоторые фрагменты (арии песенной формы и инструментальные композиции) могут адекватно восприниматься как почти самостоятельные произведения, другие же немыслимы в отрыве от общего сюжета.

Сюжет произведения относится к жанру альтернативной истории. Действие происходит в 2032 году в СССР. Это ни антиутопия, ни утопия, ни гротеск. Скорее попытка фантастического переосмысления коммунистической идеи, её болезненного романтизма и трагизма, столкновения недостижимого христианского идеала всеобщей любви и рационалистических экономических задач. Любовь индивидуальная и любовь всеобщая, война локальная и война глобальная, поиск рая на земле и стремление к самоуничтожению, разум искусственный и разум человеческий… Здесь нет пропаганды за или против, здесь есть лишь проблема. И, подобно жанру фэнтези, где средневековая обстановка не означает стремления автора вернуться в средневековье, здесь социализм также не претендует на политический пафос — он лишь создаёт атмосферу, определённую эстетику происходящего.

Целевой аудиторией «Легенды о несбывшемся грядущем» являются люди, которым интересна социальная философия, научная фантастика и мелодичная электронная музыка.
