Basic arms & blazon[edit]

English: The "Roman Tradition arms" (stemma incappata): Argent chapée sable, represent the habit of the Dominican Order (the "Black Friars"), a black "cappa" (cape/cloak) draped over a white tunic. As used by the first Dominican cardinal w:Hugh of Saint-Cher (c.1200-1263). Possibly copied from the shield of the Carmelite Order (Source: Charles M.
