"Questo ulivo è stato piantato il 23 gennaio 2011 dal Cardinale Kurt Koch, Presidente del Pontificio Consiglio per la promozione dell'unità dei cristiani. Esso, come l'albero piantato a Lutherstadt Wittenberg (Germania), vuole essere un segno della crescita della comunione tra la Federazione Luterana Mondiale e la Chiesa Cattolica."
Deutsch: Olivenbaum an der südlichen Außenseite des Vorhofs der Basilika St. Paul vor den Mauern. „Dieser Olivenbaum wurde am 23. Januar 2011 durch Kurt Kardinal Koch, den Präsidenten des Päpstlichen Rates zur Förderung der Einheit der Christen, gepflanzt. Als lebendiges Denkmal steht er in Verbindung mit einem in der Lutherstadt Wittenberg (Deutschland) gepflanzten Baum und will ein sichtbares Zeichen der bis heute gewachsenen ökumenischen Gemeinschaft zwischen dem Lutherischen Weltbund und der Katholischen Kirche sein.“
English: Olive tree at the southern exterior side of the atrium of the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls. "Cardinal Kurt Koch, President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, planted this olive tree on 23 January 2011.
