English: The Capuchin friary at Ard Mhuire is located at a site of a former demesne, Ards House. The demesne was sold in 1926 to the Irish Land Commission and purchased in 1930 by the Capuchin order including the surrounding lands for the foundation of a new friary which resided initially in Ards House. A new church and retreat centre was built under the direction of the Cork architect James Rupert Boyd-Barrett and consecrated on 19 November 1966. The stained glass windows were created by the Dublin studio Murphy & Davitt. (See The Strabane Chronicle, 19 November 1966, pp. 8 and 7.)
