The pub's own website states that it is in a "designated heritage site... originally the 'City Lights' building ... erected in 1894 to house the coal-powered electric generators which powered Victoria's streetlights." As of 2015-08-19, the building appears not to be listed on en:List of historic places in Victoria, British Columbia, but it is listed in the City of Victoria Register of Heritage Properties as Victoria City Electric Light Station; that document indicates it is a designated heritage site, but gives no ID.
