The Bob Dale Collection is a group of photographs that Robert L. Dale (1924-2020) shot during his employment with the U.S. Navy and the National Science Foundation (NSF), as a pilot in Antarctica. He flew scientist to remote, unexplored, mountain ranges and ice sheets to collect samples, run experiments and compile scientific data.
For his efforts, Dale was awarded appreciation for his service with a glacier named after him, Dale Glacier 78°17′S 162°2′E. Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) in 1963.
These photos were originally, slides, that the Antarctican Society scanned and restored, spanning the years from 1959 to 1975.
