English: Birket Israel also Birket Israil or Birket Isra'in, opposite the basins of Bethesda, already at the time of the Second Temple, there was another basin near the walls of the Temple Mount, which even for some time was considered by the pilgrims as "Sheep pool". This is the Israel Basin (Birket Israil), was located in the channel of the Beit Zeit (Betseta) stream. Over time, the pool turned into an unsanitary pit, which was filled in 1936 by the mandate authorities. And on the place of the covered pool they arranged a park (EL-GHAZALI SQUARE)
