This is a subcategory for images of belt and pulley spanning devices, a form of crossbow spanning mechanism used for spanning medieval era forms of crossbows and some early modern crossbows.
The "belt and pulley" (or "claw and pulley") method of crossbow spanning was an evolution of the earlier and simpler "belt and hook" spanning method.
