English: The Fountain of Light and Water, commonly referred to as the Bartholdi Fountain, after the name of its creator, has been located in Bartholdi Park (part of the United States Botanic Garden) since 1932, when the park was created.

From 1877 to 1927, it was located in the center of the U.S. Botanic Garden, when the latter had its previous home on the National Mall in front of the Capitol building. The fountain was originally relocated to Washington, D.C., in 1877, from Philadelphia's Fairmount Park, after the United States Congress purchased it. The public work of art was created by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi for the Centennial International Exhibition of 1876.
