The Bank of Ghana is the central bank of the Republic of Ghana. The Bank of Ghana was established on the base of the Bank of Ghana Ordinance (No.34) of 1957 as successor of the Bank of the Gold Coast and was inaugurated on 1st August 1957. However, the Issue Department of the Bank of Ghana did not commence operations until July 1958.
The main building of the Bank of Ghana is located at the High Street of Victoriaborg, a quarter of Accra (Osu).
