English: 1937 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B #412012.[1] This car started out as a cycle-fendered 2900 A Spider Corsa in 1935, chassis number 412003, racing with Ferrari and was rebodied as a Botticella in 1936. It was fitted with another Spider body in 1936, and given the new chassis number 412008. Then sold to Piero Dusio of Cisitalia fame with a third chassis number (412012) in 1937, lengthened and rebodied as a Spider by Pinin Farina in 1938. It went to Switzerland in 1947 and was then thought lost for decades, but resurfaced in the US in the 1990s. It had belonged to US soldiers who had fitted it with a Chrysler Windsor flathead six engine; when it was found again it was equipped with a Jaguar engine.
Sold for $4,072,500 at Pebble Beach in 1999; with Laurence Auriana since then (2023).
