Thanks for uploading File:Hideki Matsuyama ClevelandGolf4-21.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

See Ticket#2021041410000471. On 14 April 2021, the company representative provided the copyright release email to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org. Zefr (talk) 02:58, 15 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
User:Zefr I just wanted to make sure you are aware that the OTRS ticket was rejected, and that a new one must be submitted within 30 days to avoid deletion. I'm not sure what the ticket that was reviewed is like, but directing the copyright holder to COM:OTRS/CONSENT to make the legally-correct release statement and having them follow the instructions at [1] to send it might be the best way. — Goszei (talk) 23:56, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It might be a better idea actually to go to the talk page of the reviewer (Jeff G.) and ask them specifically what is wrong and the best way to proceed. I am rather out of my depth in giving advice since I can't see the ticket. — Goszei (talk) 00:03, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like all is well now, thanks for contributing such a great image. — Goszei (talk) 19:30, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there[edit]

how do you get permission to use photos? Golffan233 (talk) 03:55, 15 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Golffan233 - 1) follow the guide in the upper left margin here on Commons to "Upload file". 2) In the case of requesting copyright release from a private company, this is the Commons guide:

For images to be hosted on Wikimedia Commons, they require the copyright holder to provide a specific release under a free license (such as the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0), which allows anyone to use them for any purpose, including commercial usage and derivative works. Unfortunately, "permission to use on Wikipedia" is not adequate.

Please see <https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/COM:L> for more information.

Please ask the copyright holder to e-mail us directly to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org, if possible using the template available at:

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Email_templates/Consent - and ask the company contact to attach the file of interest.

3) write directly to the company having the image, explaining who you are and how the image will be used on Wikipedia. It's best to make the process as easy as possible for the contact, so write the full permission email for them, and ask the contact person to submit the request with a copy to you.

Hope this helps. Zefr (talk) 04:12, 15 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
