Neocarzinostatin.svg[edit]

Can you please take a look at File:Neocarzinostatin.svg? I think the stereochemistry at one position (on the cyclic carbonate) is inverted. Thanks. Edgar181 (talk) 17:25, 13 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

how did you make the animations in the thumbnails as well?[edit]

how did you make the animations in the thumbnails as well? look at my animated gif http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Micrometer_applet.gif

but when people use it in thumbnail tag, it is a still picture.

can you explain or show me how you make a animated thumbnail as well in your picture?

Thanks[edit]

maybe it has something to do with the size of gif 256X256 Will try it later :)

Quality issue
Thank you for your submission of image File:UN transport pictogram - 5.2 (white).svg.
I have noticed that the SVG you uploaded is poor traced and is now listed in Category: SVG images with poor traced elements. While most submissions are useful, do you think you might be able to supply a better quality version of the same, or similar content? You can either upload an improved version or simply allow the file to be deleted. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask me, a member of the Graphic Lab, or the Graphics village pump. Uploading images in SVG format isn't mandatory, but it would help. In all cases, please do not take this message personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you, and happy editing!

File:UN transport pictogram - 2.svg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Structures[edit]

Hi, my friend. I downloaded free Inkscape, but I don't file chemical structures in it. Claudio Pistilli (talk) 21:10, 17 July 2019 (UTC)Structures[reply]

Invalid SVG images of chemical structures[edit]

Hello Wostr, I realized that almost all of your images of chemical structures are invalid SVG files (for example take a look at File:Anisyl benzoate.svg). Do you think you are able to correct them? Before uploading a SVG file to Commons, I always check them with SVG Validator and Commons:Commons SVG Checker. Chem Sim 2001 (disc) 08:22, 6 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Chem Sim 2001: I'm aware of this. However, the syntax problems are usually the same in every file and I don't know what is causing them. Since I don't see how these syntax problems may affect anything other than giving warnings on the W3C page, I'm unconvinced of the need to correct them and I won't correct them if there are no problem with using the file and the only way to correct the files, is to do it manually by code editing of a SVG file. Maybe I could do something different while using Inkscape to prevent this, but — as I wrote earlier — I don't know what is the source of the problems. Wostr (talk) 10:18, 6 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I create my structures in ChemDraw and save the file as .eps-file. Then I open the file in Scribus 1.5.4 and save without changes as .svg-file. In Inkscape, I adjust the margins and save the file as SVG file as well. Chem Sim 2001 (disc) 10:45, 6 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I use ChemDraw and Inkscape only. I think all the warnings in these files are a result of the fact that Inkscape uses some features of the future SVG2 recommendations and W3C validator uses SVG1.1 recommendations. Wostr (talk) 15:57, 6 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Simon, it is a fact that many of the tools which are used to draw chemical structures create a lot of redundant code, often with formal W3C errors. That is never a reason to redraw the structures or to correct something !
Of course you can check files before uploading them, and make some small corrections (e.g. by text edit), to upload an error free version; that is a really good habit, and it will give you a better feeling to avoid the error tags of the validator.
But only wrong drawings are a reason to redraw and reupload a file, W3C-error counts are not. Thank you for your considerations -- sarang사랑 14:03, 28 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Sarang: Thanks for your explanation. However my intention was not to redraw the structures. I thought there would be a way to clean up those error with an SVG tool, but as you already said, it's not that important as long as the SVG file is displayed well on the various Wikipedia pages. Your opinion[edit]

Hello Wostr, as a chemistry-experienced user, could you add your opinion to both of my deletion requests (Commons:Deletion requests/File:Dioxanona.png and Commons:Deletion requests/File:Methylpropanoate.png). Thanks in advance, I really appreciate that. — Chem Sim 2001 (talk) 21:57, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
