Autopatrol given[edit]

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. Abzeronow (talk) 17:43, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please be careful when overwriting maps. Changes such as the ones you introduced in the map are controversial and will invite more of the same in a project where stability is more important than anything else. If the idea is to turn the map into an easily configurable one (something that nobody asked for), then you need to upload a like for like replacement, or better still, upload it under a different name. @M.Bitton The map is still an SVG map, and on its face this is a like for like replacement, the changes just included cited changes to some countries, as done in the previous edits of the map. I changed the backend to XML as it helps people update the map in the future, and helps in finding and fixing broken codes to ensure the SVG code is valid; so far no one other thinks this is controversial. It's not a like for like replacement, it's a different base map. There is no reason to change it and introduce concepts and areas that weren't there in the stable map to start with. While correcting the errors is easily done (I will do it), making the map hand editable is more time consuming, but not impossible (for the one who insists on having it that way). The map is used on various projects and major and contested changes such as yours as definitely in violation of COM:OVERWRITE. M.Bitton (talk) 19:24, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
