Images from books

Hi, Regarding your images of books, you should take care of the quality. This can be very useful, and I have done that myself (see my user page), but 1. Do not use a flash, 2. Open the book as flat as possible, 3. Photos with a real camera would be better, 4. This is only acceptable if you take the pictures yourself. 5. 3D art are not acceptable. And please archive your talk page. Regards, Yann (talk) 10:04, 29 March 2018 (UTC)

Archangel Uriel at St George's in Belfast

Hi Uriel1022, I noted your interest in the mural of Archangel Uriel at St George's in Belfast. I've uploaded a version of slightly better quality: File:Belfast St George's Church Sanctuary Mural Archangel Uriel 2018 08 24.jpg (crop from another photograph). Regards, AFBorchert (talk) 22:48, 26 April 2019 (UTC)

Hi Andreas, thank you for uploading the new version! This angel fascinates me, I've been collecting his images of all kinds. If by any chance you have more photos of him, hope you could share them on Wikimedia. Regards, --Uriel1022 (talk) 14:00, 27 April 2019 (UTC)
Hi Uriel022, you will find a sculpture of all four archangels including Uriel in this photo of the upper section of the Baroque high altar in the church of Assumption in Halfing, Bavaria: File:Halfing Pfarrkirche Mariä Himmelfahrt Auszug des Hochaltars 2017 08 05.jpg. The archangels are located at the inner sides of the two columns. You will find Michael at the lower left with his scales for weighing souls. I assume that Uriel is located above of Michael as that archangel carries a sword and is close to John the Baptist on the left hand side (both is typical for Uriel). I've uploaded a crop for you: File:Halfing Pfarrkirche Mariä Himmelfahrt Auszug des Hochaltars Detail Erzengel Uriel 2017 08 05.jpg. Regards, AFBorchert (talk) 17:21, 27 April 2019 (UTC)
Oh, ‘deliciously baroque’ beautiful photos, thank you very much! Curious that Uriel’s statues are found in some Catholic churches, since he is not officially recognised by the Roman Catholic Church. They actually have banned the veneration to him (Vatican bans rogue angels). Another thing I’m curious about is if there are any paintings or statues of Uriel in the Lutheran churches in Germany? Do the Lutherans venerate him? I can’t find any information dealt with this subject on the internet. Regards, -- Uriel1022 (talk) 23:46, 27 April 2019 (UTC)
Hi Uriel, you are right – the reason is that Uriel is nowhere named in the Biblical canon. This is probably the reason why he is missing in this stained glass window: File:Ballinasloe St. Michael's Church East Window by Frederick Settle Barff 2010 09 15.jpg. Usually, Uriel is just considered in a group of four archangels. The concept of veneration is not practiced by Lutheran churches with the exception of patronages for churches etc. As Lutheran churches are focused on the canonical scripture, it is unlikely to see art created for a Lutheran church that depicts Uriel. Hi Andreas, you just gratified my curiosity by giving the information about the Lutheran Church, thank you. Some depictions of Uriel I discovered in Catholic churches are those in Italy (I assume that's because of Byzantine influence), England (probably because of Anglican influence), Germany (I found five plus the baroque sculpture you uploaded. I'm not sure if this St.-Martins-Kirche is Catholic or Lutheran), Philippines, and Latin America. Regards, -- Uriel1022 (talk) 20:00, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
Hi Uriel, St. Martin's Church in Seelze is a Lutheran church. The relief depicting Uriel is from a baptismal font which appears to be from 1690 ([1]). A patronage of St. Martin is not unusual for Lutheran churches and for an octogonal font it seems to be straightforward to have all four archangels instead of just three. It is not impossible to find artwork of Uriel in Roman Catholic or Lutheran churches, it is just not very common. Regards, AFBorchert (talk) 11:17, 29 April 2019 (UTC)

Hello!
