Woodworth[edit]

Hi Uninvited. Is Image:Woodworth.ogg a recording of Just As I Am? Or is it a small part of that hymn? Thanks, User:dbenbenn 18:37, 8 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's an instrumental recording of the entire tune. The full hymn, a sung, would involve a number of repeats to cover all the verses (7 if I remember correctly though usually all are not included). UninvitedCompany 22:35, 24 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - you uploaded the Bach fugue which is the featured media today. I have looked at the decription page, and it seems to be missing some information - most importantly, who is the interpreter? I.e. who licensed this under CC-BY-SA? This is crucial - incomplete license info is a reson for deletion! Failing to mention the interpreter is a violation of the license! Maybe you played it yourself? Let us know! Generally, have a look at Template:Information for some hints to what info should be included in the decribtion page.

It would also be nice to learn a bit more about the piece itself - especially why does the blurp on the main page say that it may be by J.T. Krebs, not by Bach at all? it would also be interresting to know when it was written, for what purpose, etc. That info is not critical, but for featured media, it would definitely be good to have! Thank you. -- Duesentrieb(?!) 13:57, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your note. I have updated the description page. I've never especially liked that recording and was in fact thinking just this morning that I ought to re-record it along with the fugue portion. But then, musicians hardly ever like recordings of themselves so perhaps I should leave it to others to judge. UninvitedCompany 16:08, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent, thank you! The only thing missing now is good categorization... Category:Music is a bit unspecific :) I'll fix it for you. -- Duesentrieb(?!) 17:02, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I added appropriate categories... please do the same for your other uploads. Recordings of music should generall go into two categories: Category:Music sound and the composer's category (or, if that does not exist, the category for the style or period). To get an overview of the category structure, you can use the CategoryTree. You can also try CommonSense for semi-automatic categorization. And here's a Gallery of all your uploads :) -- Duesentrieb(?!) 18:09, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Kim Jong Il and Madeleine Albright.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|cc-by-sa-2.5}} to release it under the Creative Commons or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Please be aware that I did not upload this image; I merely reverted an obviously vandalized image that had another person photoshopped in. My reversion was in response to an OTRS complaint and I did not investigate the provenance of the original image. UninvitedCompany 00:29, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OTRS volunteering[edit]

Hi! I read at Commons:OTRS that people can contact you if they are interested in doing Commons related OTRS work. I'm interested in this work because there are no other Finnish speaking Commners in OTRS staff. In Wikipedia I have started asking that people send permission to OTRS, and since OTRS doesn't have anyone who is active in Wikipedia, I feel obliged. Kind regards, Samulili 17:05, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image deletion warning Image:Beethoven-Pathetique.ogg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file.
In all cases, please do not take the deletion request personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!
