Mapa de Empordà DO[edit]

--BodegasAmbite (talk) 10:43, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Tyk!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Me explico.

Hi,

There is no strict policy, but a general usage which is indicated in Commons:Translation_possible/Learn_more#How do I edit SVGs? You can also check the series of Category:Other versions templates, which do respect this usage.

Concerning your argument that the title is in Spanish, it seems to me a little Spanish-speaking-centered; I mean: it is hard for a non-Spanish-speaking to make difference between Spanish and Catalan (for instance)—and imagine what Chinese people will think about it (they don't speak even English for most of them...).

So I think that keeping the lang code (which is standard and well understood by everyone) is really a "best practice": it avoids ambiguity for all, no matter of their linguistic skills. That's why I made my request, which is rather a renaming request as you can see.

I hope you agree with me. Bibi Saint-Pol (sprechen) 08:41, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Renaming a file does not change anything in the general workflow of the uploader—provided he is watching the new file version. You are still indicated as the author of File:Corona de Castilla 1400 es.svg, of course.
Furthermore a good habit is better than a bad rule, and a non-ambiguous situation is better than all. Currently we have 2 versions of the same file, which is not appropriate. So my question is: are you firmly opposed to the mention of "es" in the title of your image or is it just a matter of "owning" (if so, I could propose you to delete the file and reupload it yourself)? Bibi Saint-Pol (sprechen) 14:35, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The interest of indicating the language name in the title is clear for a lot of cases. Take mine: I can perfectly understand "Corona de Castilla", but I can't say if it's Spanish, Catalan, Galician, Portuguese or whatever. "es" would bring a useful info, and currently the only way for someone to know what is the language of this map is to look at the cat and see Category:Historical maps in Spanish. Pretty complicated.
I agree with you for using English in the title name, which is generally done. But as 2 translations (bg and de) were previously existing, I lazily consider renaming one file instead of three. But IMO the most accessible solution would be something like File:Kingdom of Castile 1400 map-es.svg. Bibi Saint-Pol (sprechen) 15:45, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Luso-Tuga (talk) 11:06, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful information about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

As far as I know the Sollér tramway is in operation. So it should be drawn in bright red. --Chumwa (talk) 22:13, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Zaragoza tram is going to be in operation the 5th April, so when the day will arrive, upload a new version of the image with Zaragoza in bright red. --Robot8A (talk) 17:42, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
