Imho it's simple. You uploaded copyvio files via Cn223 and went on abusing sockpuppets via Uua. You may ask for an unblock via Template:Unblock. Trijnsteltalk 20:58, 4 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Query

I assumed this hit was valid and blocked accordingly? --Herby talk thyme 09:40, 5 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Not quite. Almost all hits aren't him. This is just a simple promo-only account. If you want to know more about the vandal, see here. Trijnsteltalk 16:02, 5 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks and appreciated :) I'll look harder next time. --Herby talk thyme 16:23, 5 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Picture of the Year voting round 1 open

Dear Wikimedians,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2012 Picture of the Year competition is now open. We're interested in your opinion as to which images qualify to be the Picture of the Year for 2012. Voting is open to established Wikimedia users who meet the following criteria:

  1. Users must have an account, at any Wikimedia project, which was registered before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC].
  2. This user account must have more than 75 edits on any single Wikimedia project before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC]. Please check your account eligibility at the POTY 2012 Contest Eligibility tool.
  3. Users must vote with an account meeting the above requirements either on Commons or another SUL-related Wikimedia project (for other Wikimedia projects, the account must be attached to the user's Commons account through SUL).

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. From professional animal and plant shots to breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historically relevant images, images portraying the world's best architecture, maps, emblems, diagrams created with the most modern technology, and impressive human portraits, Commons features pictures of all flavors.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topic categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you can vote for as many images as you like. The first round category winners and the top ten overall will then make it to the final. In the final round, when a limited number of images are left, you must decide on the one image that you want to become the Picture of the Year.

To see the candidate images just go to the POTY 2012 page on Wikimedia Commons

Wikimedia Commons celebrates our featured images of 2012 with this contest. Your votes decide the Picture of the Year, so remember to vote in the first round by January 30, 2013.

Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee

Hi, Trijnstel. Could check that possible spambot? Or should I make a request in Commons:Checkusers/Requests? Thanks, Érico Wouters msg 11:42, 22 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

✓ CU performed and four spambots locked. I guess you mean the request page for CUs? That's Commons:Requests for checkuser. In case you want to become a CU yourself ... I'd advice you to wait some time: you've become an admin here recently (Sep 2012) and a global sysop even more recently (end of Dec 2012). Besides, for me it's important that a future CU is trusted, active, experienced and has a need for the rights. You are certainly trusted & active (though only recently); you are experienced, but I believe that you have to learn a lot too. :) And I don't see many checkuser requests of you (found three in the past six months: 1, 2 and 3), so I don't see the need either. It's a  no for now. Trijnsteltalk 23:00, 22 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
BTW: We have plenty of active checkusers (five at the moment) here at Commons; feel free to poke us when you could use some help. Trijnsteltalk 23:00, 22 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Definitely do not want to be checkuser right now. Also because I can not due to age (I born in 7 march 1997-look in "userboxes") and I can only be candidate in 2015. Only was wrong with the pages (Commons:Checkusers/Requests->Commons:Requests for checkuser). Thanks very much and regards, Érico Wouters msg 01:56, 23 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
And as you get these statistics? You count manually? And before I forget: could look this possible spambot? Érico Wouters msg 02:11, 23 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. :) No, I count them via Excel (copy/paste - a tric I learned from Jim) and I guess Herby's reading this; he blocked them (thnx!). Trijnsteltalk 19:16, 23 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Timestamp File Wiki Page Result
2013-01-23 11:20:00 Nikolay Rukavishnikov 1974.jpg nl.wikipedia.org Sojoez 10 failed
Dank! Met vriendelijke groet, Trijnsteltalk 21:59, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Trijnstel. I've seen that you deleted my user page. I'm new in Wikipedia. Please, tell me what I did wrong on my user page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nacasona (talk • contribs) 20:32, 3 February 2013‎ (UTC)[reply]

Hello Nacasona. You promoted yourself (+ your website) on your user page and that's not allowed. Not on Commons or on any other WMF project. Trijnsteltalk 22:20, 3 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Commons RFA question

Hi! I have a question for you related to something going on elsewhere. How does Commons deal with a RFA candidate or other editor canvassing at the candidate's homewiki? --Rschen7754 09:28, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Rschen7754. There are no real rules, but usually I mention it on the RfA page if I notice it and then let the bureaucrats decide what to do with it. Trijnsteltalk 22:58, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

How to identify to WMF

Hey Trijnstel, I want to know how to provide identification to WMF. Thanks--Morning (talk) 13:43, 16 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Morning Sunshine. First of all, identification (18+) is only required for restricted permissions (checkuser, oversight, steward, ombudsman, Board of Trustees), or other positions requiring access to personally identifiable data (such as account creators on the English Wikipedia). If you still wish to be identified, you may send a copy of your driver's license, passport or other official documentation indicating real name and age to the WMF. Their contact information can be found on m:Steward handbook/email templates. Trijnsteltalk 23:13, 16 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, I just want to know in advance as I am going to be 18 in the next few months and I want to have access to User Account Creation Interface on en.wiki. Anyway, thank you for your help--Morning (talk) 14:44, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

U9o8af8yn

Trijnsteltalk 20:01, 27 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

So...

Hi Trijnstel, as you'll probably remember, I resigned my admin bit awhile ago, believing that I no longer had any real use for them. Lately, I have been working on several editing tools for Commons, and I reckon it would be useful to have the tools again so as to make testing less of a pain. That said, can I have my buttons back please? :] Regards, FASTILY (TALK) 23:19, 1 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! You surely can have the tools back, but I can't give you those as I'm not a local bureaucrat. ;) Please ask this on COM:BN and they'll help you. Trijnsteltalk 23:30, 1 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
And I always thought you were a crat here! :o I just made the request at BN. Thanks! -FASTILY (TALK) 23:43, 1 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No, I'm not. I am a steward so I can remove rights or can act as a bureaucrat if there are none. Maybe you mixed it up with that. Trijnsteltalk 12:48, 2 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I know about that rule, but I think given the good work you do on Commons, you definitely deserve the crat bit! :] -FASTILY (TALK) 02:09, 3 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the compliment, but I already have so many roles (locally & globally) that I don't want more. Besides, I'm not needed. :) Trijnsteltalk 17:52, 3 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Leitoxx

Hi, Trijnstel. I see you blocked Leitoxx (talk · contribs) for vandalism in November of the last year. I was wondering if you could reconsider this block, as the user has become very active in manteinance at es_wiki and sometimes they found files which are copyright violations. es:User:Lourdes Cardenal, User:DLeandroc and me are guiding Leitoxx, so I can assure you they won't vandalize again. Regards. --LlamaAl (talk) 22:35, 25 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Trijnstel (I hope you remember me). I agree with LlamaAl.--DLeandroc (talk) 22:43, 25 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Leitoxx continued to vandalize together with Caro Scheilegers :) iirc... I have to think about it, but his edits on es-wiki don't look bad indeed. Trijnsteltalk 22:45, 25 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
These are their last 50 edits in the main namespace. --LlamaAl (talk) 22:57, 25 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ticket

Hey Tri, can you handdle this? I know that is in portuguese, but you closed a ticket from this sender times ago. Regards.Willy Weazley 23:04, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I don't even have access to that ticket (is it in info-pt?), thus I can't do anything with it I'm afraid (and no idea what the content is either). Trijnsteltalk 21:15, 2 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Trijnstel, forgive my ignorance, but I'm not at all familiar with checkuser results. What does "stale" mean, and what is the distinction between "very likely" and "probably"? Is any further action warranted or necessary given these results? Эlcobbola talk 20:39, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That's OK. :) Stale means that the user last edited more than 3 months ago, thus can't be checked by us. Likely or very likely means that the two accounts very much look like sockpuppets though I'm nog 100% sure (let's say 90% in this case). User:Elldery is "probably related" as the info doesn't match completely, but enough for me to call it a sock. :) And as it's not allowed to repeatedly upload copyvios or fair use images, I think it's wise to block the last three accounts & User:Tortela123 maybe because of his edit pattern (if it quakes like a duck...). Just compare the CU results with what you've seen on-wiki of their edits etc I'd say. Good luck. If you need more help, feel free to call me! With regards, Trijnsteltalk 21:07, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Good day, I am trying to find why the Korn, 2013.jpg file that was uploaded and email recieved is still not sufficient for the Commons. I used the template directly from Wikimedia Commons so I'm not sure what else you want. Can you please help me and tell me what more is necessary to be proper for the Commons? Nbcwd (talk) 18:41, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Nbcwd. I added {{OTRS received}} to the file to prevent it from being deleted soon ... Another OTRS volunteer will probably handle the ticket. Trijnsteltalk 20:11, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! Can you tell me what's wrong with the permissions so that I can get the correct information to the Commons? Nbcwd (talk) 00:58, 4 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Nothing's wrong, I guess, but I haven't read the ticket at all. I only added the number to the file to prevent it from being deleted soon. Trijnsteltalk 19:39, 4 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! Now what's the next step so that the file doesn't get deleted at all? Nbcwd (talk) 13:05, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hm, it's less easy then I thought. Please report the file & ticket on COM:ON and hopefully someone else can help you. Trijnsteltalk 20:14, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Re: files related to artist James Mylne

Hi there Trijnstel, thanks very much for helping with the reinstatement of the photo relating to ticket:2013022310004559. You mentioned another deleted file (Jerry Hall?). That wasn't an image I'd solicited from James, nor did I intend to use it in his article, so I have no vested interest there (he may have uploaded that as source material), BUT, separate question: There was another file deleted at the time James Mylne's photo was deleted, it was a magazine cover named "Add Lib." I'd solicited that image from Mr. Mylne thinking that it would fall under fair-use as a magazine cover bearing the artist's own work on the cover, for use in his wikipedia article to illustrate specific facts about his artwork which are noted in the article. Any light you can shine on that for me is highly appreciated. Can you at least point me to the formal rules regarding magazine covers? There are other magazine covers I've been hoping to get uploaded for usage in wikipedia article's I've written. Thanks very much for your time! Penwatchdog (talk) 04:50, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Penwatchdog. Sure I can. I found three deleted files of User:James Mylne so far. (I restored File:James Mylne.jpg temp so that one's not deleted right now of course.) The other three are:
BUT magazine covers are usually not allowed since we don't accept fair use. enWP does accept it though, so you may consider uploading it there. Trijnsteltalk 20:14, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Saskia De Coster

Hi, Trijnstel. For what it's worth, I've been corresponding with User:Ingejooris, who is a friend of Saskia de Coster, and coincidentally I asked her whether the "D" in "de" should be upper or lower case: she told me lower case is preferable. I'm not a Dutch speaker, so obviously I have nothing to contribute on the question, but I pass it along anyway. Cheers. --Rrburke (talk) 15:17, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Must say wasn't 100% sure, but I guess she uses "de" with lower case.[3] Usually in Belgium they use the upper case and in Holland lower case... Trijnsteltalk 20:14, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Stop bugging other users

If you think there's something wrong on someones userpage you gotto contact him/her on his/her talkpage and let him/her change it him-/herself! Stay away from other user's pages! a×pdeHello! 17:31, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

So if someone else adds a template on your user page it's fine, but when another user removes them from that page it's suddenly wrong? I'm sorry, but that's just hypocrite. Then warn your colleague admin Morning Sunshine et al too. Though I still believe I haven't done anything wrong imho. Thank you. Trijnsteltalk 20:14, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
In German we have a saying: "If two people are doing the same, it's still not the same." And believe me, I'd have told Blue Marble the same if he had bugged me before like you did!
And conc. other admins, I'm not elected to bug other admins. But if Morning Sunshine is missbehaving you should address him on his talkpage. a×pdeHello! 15:11, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I am amazed you dare complain that somebody updates a userpage you were clearly unwilling to do. This is not bugging, but helping, just like I assume this is not bugging either. Savhñ 15:43, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
If you cite a difflink you should tell the whole story: Şahzadə had been block for socket puppetry and tried to explain that his is sharing his IP with another user but failed to formulate in English. I helped him and he was thankful.
Trijnstel on the other hand bugged me from the the very beginning of her stewardship, acting like a "supersteward" telling other stewards what to do. And I frequently told her that I felt annoyed by her (over-)actions!
Last but not least "you were clearly unwilling to do" is an open provocation by you. You clearly made me feel that I'm not wanted, so stop bugging me and do whatever important jobs you have to do! a×pdeHello! 23:40, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I would not consider it a provocation, but just a mere observation. You haven't been a steward for a month, Trijnstel removed an obviously wrong userbox from your userpage, and within 24 hours you are already complaining she edited your user page. The fact that I think this doesn't mean that you are not wanted, and I am not bugging you either. On the other hand, by telling me to do more important things, you are sending me away. I find your reaction to Trijnstel highly immature, which is why I placed my message here, but it turns out this is not only because of the userpage edit, but various other "buggs" regarding your stewardship, which are totally out of place here. "if he had bugged me before like you did!", including the exclamation mark, is an obvious personal attack, accusing Trijnstel of harrasing (?) you because she removes a template from your userpage. According to your claim, your (over-)reaction is only due because of who did it, which is simply unacceptable, and not what the user did.
If this really is the case, then this message is wrong, and should have been something like "Thanks, but please don't edit my userpage", instead of the extremely aggresive "Stay away from other user's pages!", again with exclamation mark.
The example I gave is correct, nobody asked you to perform that edit, and him being thankful could have set an example for you as well. There is no need to tell the whole story, because I assumed you would not have forgotten, this not being a public hearing but a discussion between various users. I don't see, however, how your edit to his userpage is considered helping, whilst Trijnstel's edit should be considered "bugging".
I would obviously like to see some evidence that supports your claim of me bugging (attacking?) you, other than the fact that I disagreed with you and various of your actions. Savhñ 13:50, 10 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Quite astonishing that I really have to explain even more: I already was in contact with Şahzadə when I edited his userpage to help clarify his point.
Trijnstel on the other hand never contacted me before acting, she arrogates the right to defy the self-determination of other users! That's what I call bugging, and that's what I criticize! a×pdeHello! 15:47, 10 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Self-determination means you can have a incorrect userbox on your userpage? This is a wiki, and not a democracy. You have made various claims in your argumentation, which you have not yet clarified, accusing users (me & Trijnstel) of bugging you, without giving any evidence. The vague sentence "Trijnstel on the other hand bugged me from the the very beginning of her stewardship, acting like a "supersteward" telling other stewards what to do.", given as a reason for your inappropiate and extremely aggresive reaction here, should logically have affected other stewards as well, but you're the only one I hear complaining, and you have provided no evidence in favour of your claim. It is, in any case, not right to 'pester' her because she supposedly 'pestered' you whilst being a steward. As for what you consider "bugging", I think the more appropiate term is "criticism", and you should be able to deal with it. Accusing other users who intervene in this discussion (me) of also pestering you, doesn't make your argumentation better. For the time being, I won't bother responding untill the issues I adressed in my comment are adressed, and will instead do the more useful things you send me off to do. Savhñ 10:19, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Trijnstel. I know you can't divulge the contents of OTRS correspondence, but I have a concern about this ticket: the EXIF on most of these images identifies the author and/or copyright-holder of the files as someone other than the uploader. First, the uploader has erroneously tagged them all as "own work"; but more importantly, mere confirmation that the uploader is the owner of website from which these images are sourced is not sufficient to establish that the uploader is indeed the copyright-holder: unless the OTRS correspondence also confirms that the photographers have either agreed to publish these images under a free license or have ceded the copyrights to the website-owner, the uploader is not in a position to license them at all.

Additionally, I've noticed that this user has also taken to adding this OTRS ticket to all his new uploads himself, so that no OTRS team-member has actually confirmed that the contents of the ticket actually apply to the new uploads. Surely new uploads require new scrutiny via OTRS and can't simply be self-authorized by the uploader. As an image-reviewer, I (rightly) can't review my own uploads, so it seems ludicrous to me that once an OTRS ticket has been issued, a user can simply use to it tag all his subsequent uploads without any third-party scrutiny or oversight.

Nor is the practice of tagging as "own work" photographs a user has not take him- or herself confined to this instance: I have come across, for example, OTRS-confirmed book covers uploaded by a book's author, who has claimed the cover image as "own work". Obviously that's plainly inaccurate, but the more important issue is that it is the publisher and not the author who holds the rights to a book's cover art, so the author has no authority to license it. Book covers also sometimes include stock images which have been licensed solely to appear on the cover or in advertisements for the book, and in these cases not even the publisher has the right to license the cover image for another use.

I have also come across what are obviously professional headshots that have been uploaded by actors, models or the like, also claimed as "own work", and also carrying OTRS confirmation. However, the copyright to headshots nearly always remains with the photographer, and the person depicted in the images has no right to license them, much less claim them as "own work". Photographers will grant licenses to the subject of their agent to reproduce the images themselves, but the licenses are quite restrictive and are certainly not free.

I have tried to raise the broader issue here, but to no avail. Do you think that OTRS volunteers are sufficiently aware of who holds the copyright in such instances that they wouldn't be granting erroneously OTRS confirmation to the wrong person, someone who is not the copyright-holder? Cheers. --Rrburke (talk) 18:36, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Rrburke. Let me do this one by one.
  • First, I looked at the ticket you mentioned and as it's written in Russian, I advise you to contact User:Rubin16 (he handled it)
  • Second, please be patient. All questions asked on COM:ON will be answered, sometimes later but they will always be answered.
  • Third, yes, I think OTRS volunteers are sufficiently aware of these issues. We have an extensive guide and people usually try to help eachother when they need it. Of course you will have differences between the volunteers (same as the differences between admins), but if you doubt the validity of a ticket don't hesitate to ask other volunteers. :-)
Does this answers your questions a bit? With regards, Trijnsteltalk 22:16, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Trijnstel. Thanks for your reply: yes, thanks, that answers a great deal. I'll ask User:Rubin16. Can you tell me what is the proper procedure is for a user uploading new files they believe are covered by an existing ticket? Doesn't an OTRS volunteer have to confirm that the new uploads are indeed covered by the contents of the ticket? --Rrburke (talk) 14:35, 16 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, they usually should do that. But sometimes an OTRS volunteer tells a user that they can upload a file with a certain ticket number... Trijnsteltalk 19:18, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Help with "pusher"

Hello. I am an editor of Wikipedia in Spanish, and a few days ago I contacted ~Pyb [4] to explain the case of vandalism than the article Jack Russell terrier has suffered for several months, due to the insistence of replacing good quality photos with a poor quality photo than Archita78, time ago, uploaded and place it in various Wikis, whether as Ip or nick. ~Pyb erased the photo, but... it has been upload again with another nick, and already is on two articles from Wikipedia. A photo that is so bad and detracts the breed from the Jack Russell terrier (the dog does not has prick ears, according to breed standard). Can commons delete it forever? Would there be any way to prevent further posting from those horrendous and awful pictures in the articles from Wikipedia? Thanks for your time! —Frei sein (Talk to me!) 05:15, 28 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Frei sein. Thanks for contacting me about this! I try to follow Archita78 for quite some time now and block/lock accounts after performing a CU + delete the images. Also, you can find a file about him on this place (in English too). If you find more sockpuppets, please report them on my user talk and I'll search for more possible ones. I don't know a more long-term solution though. Will think about it when I have the time. He uses several large ranges (with collateral on it) and uploads the files on different file names. Sadly we can't block images just on their content and it won't help if we would protect the pages/file names. Then he probably will upload other files with other names. But thanks again. :-) With regards, Trijnsteltalk 12:23, 28 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Wow! I have read the file you've linked and I was impressed. I had no idea it was a vandal with such a long career. I already bookmarked the pages that he use to vandalize, and... I will remain vigilant to report it immediately. I appreciate you acted so quickly: Thanks a lot ! :) —Frei sein (Talk to me!) 16:49, 28 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Vujcic. Usually I wouldn't make a problem of it, but several of the files you mentioned are used somewhere and I can only delete (recently uploaded) unused photos. Why do you want them removed btw? (I don't see what's wrong with them.) I mean, do you have a bigger version uploaded so these photos can be replaced by that other version? In that case I could delete them as a duplicate, you know. Looking forward to your reply. With regards, Trijnsteltalk 20:29, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there. I have removed some of them. These are the ones I believe can pass the deletion test. The Steve Thomas photo I accidentally uploaded and I am not the taker of the photo, the Djordje Radan photo is too small and I already uploaded a better one, the Rick Vaive photo I am not the taker of the photo, the Cancarevic photo is useless as it's cut from another photo (I will upload a new better one), the Urban Book Circle poster I uploaded the wrong file and the Urban Book Circle logo shouldn't even be there as it's too big and another one is uploaded with a better license.
Please help! I think these are OK?

Category:Hollands kuifhoen

Hallo Trijnstel,

Lieben Gruß, --PigeonIP (talk) 09:30, 10 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

en:Poland (chicken) sind de:Paduaner und de:Holländer Haubenhuhn. --PigeonIP (talk) 09:35, 10 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hallo PigeonIP. Ich spreche kein Deutsch, so setzte ich meine Antwort in englischer Sprache.
As promised, an answer in English. Even on the sources you gave, the name of the chicken breed is written differently. I'm Dutch myself and "Hollandse kuifhoenders" is the plural of "Hollands kuifhoen". So it's not Flemish (Flemish is Dutch though, with only a few adjustments). You can compare it with "chicken" and "chickens". But as Category:Hollands kuifhoen says ("Hollandse kuifhoenders (NL), Hollands kuifhoen (B)") there are two different terms of the same. Apparantly "Hollands kuifhoen" is the Flemish term. If you wish to use the Dutch term, then it should be changed in "Hollandse kuifhoenders". But in any case "Category:Hollandse kuifhoen" is wrong. With regards, Trijnsteltalk 18:48, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hallo Trijnstel,
but you were able to understand, what I wrote in German? If not, I have to ignore de-1 in future.
If the only difference between Hollandse kuifhoenders and Hollands kuifhoen is the number, there is no problem with me. There is a mix of category names on Commons. Some are plural, some are singular (as on the sources). Best regards, PigeonIP (talk) 06:48, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I understood, but I cannot write in German. So I prefer to answer in English. :) (BTW I renamed Category:Polish chicken to Category:Polish (chicken).) Trijnsteltalk 22:05, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Erik Warmelink

Hi Trijnstel. Can you take a look at User:80.114.178.7 on Commons? I've blocked the IP as a sock of an indef-blocked Commons user and globally-locked user User:Erik Warmelink. I figured you'd be the perfect person to ask to make sure I've done this right, especially seeing that the main account seems to be from nl.wiki. I also wonder if there are other IPs involved, or other accounts? Thanks for your time. INeverCry 05:25, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

See w:User talk:Newyorkbrad#Advice for why I didn't want to personally ask for a global block. INeverCry 15:56, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi INeverCry. I've thought about global blocking his IP addresses, but I've seen how he harrassed both Matanya (he did the trick) and me (I requested the lock in 2011) for locking & blocking him globally. When his account was locked and his IP globally blocked, a local admin and friend disabled the global block on nds-nlwiki. I'm not fond in getting all that attention again... He has used three IP adresses btw: 129.125.102.126 (blocked since 2009 on nlwiki), 92.65.7.10 (his work IP, used end 2012 on nds-nlwiki) and 80.114.178.7 (his new IP, blocked for two years on nlwiki now). You may find a file on here. Sorry I'm not more helpful, but you've done everything you can here though. Trijnsteltalk 16:55, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I understand about not wanting to deal with him again. I've blocked the new IP on en.wiki as well. I'll keep an eye out for any other IPs, etc. INeverCry 00:19, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Perfect, though I don't expect new IP addresses or accounts soon. He hates "pseudonyms" and works only under his real name. Trijnsteltalk 08:18, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That beautiful picture

Trijnstel, it seemed like when you used an imagemap in combination with the babelbox, on some systems they interfered, making it impossible to have them shown next to each other. That at least was the problem I experienced, even if I chose a screenwidth wide enough to have it all displayed next to each other. I tried to solve it by putting your imagemap inside an extra div, which can then be moved around rather freely. I gave that div a right margin equal to the combined width of the babelbox, the latter's margin, and the padding of the outer box of your user page, so the image will now allways be centered with respect to the remaining white-space. This solved the original problem but then it appeared the image together with the babelbox and the margins and padding were just too much to fit into the limited space of a 1024 pixel wide screen. As I guess there's still quite an amount of people using this screenwidth, I thought I'd better try to fit the image for those screens as well. This meant I had to make it slightly smaller: 490 instead of 500 pixels. What I wasn't able to do off course, was to check whether everything is still fine on your screen. The only changes I made were to User:Trijnstel/Box, so they can be undone quite easily, if necessary. I hope this helped; if not, then it's a pity but not a disaster. Cheers, Wikiklaas (talk) 15:32, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I just thought I'd mention this to you and see what your thoughts on the situation are. INeverCry 02:44, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I remember that username, but never checked it Commons. Though since you requested it (and it's a globally locked sockpuppeteer), I thought I should give it a shot.
Hope this helps. With regards, Trijnsteltalk 09:54, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nah, it's a threat, but not something we should take very seriously imho (and it's not personal either). Trijnsteltalk 21:07, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Based on their editing patterns on the English Wikipedia, I do not think Hurricanefan 24 and Hurricanefan 25 have anything to do with CH25. Yellow Evan (talk) 20:16, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I like to comment because Hurricanefan25 and his socks are an irrelevant sock series. Here is a list of his socks - HurricaneSpin (Talk) 20:18, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
@Yellow Evan and HurricaneSpin. Funny that you are able to find me here on Commons or are you discussing about it off-wiki? Trijnsteltalk 21:07, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

@ everyone

Based on the CU evidence and information I've got in private, I'm at second thought not convinced Hurricanefan25 is related to IPhonehurricane95 et al. So there are two groups:

Group 1:

Group 2:

I apologize for any inconvenience. I removed the 4 group-1-acc. from this cat, but both groups are blocked so furthermore nothing changes I think. Trijnsteltalk 21:52, 29 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Questions

You asked for it! So here they go: Can you take a look at AngelesIy, Rebeccaedson, and WWFRachel? I blocked the last one, but I need a second opinion on these. I've also started blocking clear spambots, and I wonder what you want to do in regard to global locks? Can you go off of the CU log or block log? INeverCry 17:01, 1 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, no problem. But just a quick answer as I'm busy right now. Will explain it later today and will give you a checklist too then (just gave it recently to another CU as well and he found that useful). All three accounts you mentioned are spambots, though two different groups (will mention those on that checklist too). They are now all blocked, locked and the IPs globally blocked. I've also found a fourth one (JeffreyWBooker (talk · contribs)). I usually lock them when I perform the checks myself and I block them so that it's clear which ones are checked by me. But if you just block them here, it's fine (block their talk page access too). Only when you find a lot spambots on 1 IP or range, please report them on the list. There might be more on other wikis. And again: I'll give you some hints on that checklist later today. So be patient please and thanks for helping. :) With regards, Trijnsteltalk 17:50, 1 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Out of scope afbeeldingen van nl:Kennemerduyn Hoax.

Hallo Trijnstel,

Trijnsteltalk 20:19, 31 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

FYI

Hi Trijnstel, just FYI: CU User:Messina on :de. I have checked whether the proven socks (first block on linked page) were present also on Commons, which was not the case. --Túrelio (talk) 11:10, 10 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

OK, thanks for checking, but why do you inform me about this? I don't know Messina (I think) and I can't recall having blocked him/her before... Trijnsteltalk 21:36, 10 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I've notified you (could have been any other CU, of course) as this was a big CU case on :de, which might have been relevant also for Commons, though it seems it is not. --Túrelio (talk) 14:52, 11 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

AN again

Another attempt to put up fake charges and then complaints by his friends when I respond. What is with these people? Ottava Rima (talk) 16:25, 17 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

But it's not true what you said... Fae uses IRC, yes, but also states he didn't have much access to IRC at the time. I don't think it's wise to criticize almost every comment. And I know not everyone is replies as appropriate as you might want, but I think the same applies to you... (tbh) Just ignore them and do what you like to do. :) Trijnsteltalk 16:37, 17 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
What I said was that Fae was part of the IRC crowd. It doesn't matter if he has a lot of access right now, but he has in the past. He also had multiple names on IRC, so merely not appearing as "Fae" in a channel doesn't mean he isn't necessarily there. I have plenty of experience in that room with Fae asking for people to participate in discussions. He knows there is a group that uses IRC heavily, and most of them were the early supporters. Thus, any claims about groups coming in unfairly need to look both ways. Ottava Rima (talk) 16:58, 17 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
And thanks for the advice. Ottava Rima (talk) 16:58, 17 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Then I might be part of the "IRC crowd" too... while I don't use IRC much anymore I don't know what he does there, but I stick to my latest advice. :) Trijnsteltalk 13:35, 18 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

noindex

Hi Trijnstel - could you please point out a commons policy that suggests that it's inappropriate to noindex anything in mainspace?

Surely, you would agree that it's less than ideal for a gallery of nudes to appear as the third hit for 'women in Wikimedia' on Google, higher than tons of media coverage about various topics, multiple WMF blog posts, a survey related to the experiences of women contributors to Wikimedia projects, etc? I'll start a discussion on the talk page tomorrow and hold off on reinstating the tag for now - but I'm only holding off on reinstating the tag for now because the noindex has had its desired effect, and has killed the page's google ranking.

I fully the support the existence of the category - I have literally created some of its subcategories - but the idea that it is reasonable for a gallery of nudes to be the third hit for the search phrase 'women in Wikimedia' is ridiculous. We have the ability to curate how things show up, and with stuff like this it should be literally common sense. BTW: the reason I initially noindexed the page (which I admittedly messed up and didn't immediately notice) was because I found it rather awkward to have to spend part of a meeting with a major museum about potential collaborations with Wikimedia projects explaining why a commons gallery of nudes outranked the information they had asked about that I was trying to pull up.

Out of curiosity, do you intend to remove noindex from the large number of other mainspace pages/files/categories that are also noindexed? Kevin Gorman (talk) 04:58, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Er, minor correction. It was actually the top hit, not the third, I looked back at my notes. Sorry, I'm tired. But seriously, do you believe that the top hit on the biggest search engine in the world for the phrase 'women in Wikimedia' should be a gallery of nudes? Kevin Gorman (talk) 05:05, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Commons is not censured (COM:CENSORSHIP). So that's why we should make all content available and we do not add noindex on files/categories because others don't like it or don't want to make them visible on the search engines. Don't get me wrong, I do understand your concerns, but I simply cannot do that. Trijnsteltalk 16:40, 5 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the late reply, I was distracted by a situation involving paid editing on ENWP. Commons is not censored; that doesn't mean Commons is not curated. Censorship and curation are not synonymous, and Commons is just about the only WMF project that regularly conflates the two. I will start a discussion about noindexing the page when the current situation I am dealing with clears up, and I anticipate that the discussion is likely going to be broader than Commons' community alone - 'women in Wikimedia' popping up a gallery of nudes before anything else is a movement wide issue, and not a project specific one. In the interim, to be clear: since there are a number of other noindexed mainspace pages on Commons, since this is a significant issue, and since there is no Commons policy that you can point to that forbids the use of noindex tags as tools of curation, if the page pops back up on Google's top hits before I get the chance to start a discussion about it, I will be reinstating the noindex tag. (I expect you'll remove it again... but luckily with noindex it doesn't take very long to take effect.) I know I just stated a fairly confrontational position, and apologize for having done so, but I would encourage you to remember that although you are both a steward and a sysop locally, you have entered in to a content dispute, and your use of administrative tools in the dispute is thus limited by project wide practice. I'm sorry for the fairly confrontational tone of this post, and would like to emphasize that I'm just looking for a reasonable solution to a pretty ridiculous situation. Kevin Gorman (talk) 02:26, 17 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Actually what you've just done is threaten to edit war to get your own way. Your edit was reverted by two users, both Trijnstel and Cathy Richards, so any repeat of that reverted edit would constitute edit warring, and would get you blocked and the page protected. You should start a discussion instead of re-adding the noindex tag on your own. INeverCry 03:30, 17 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"Happy Diwali!"

While Diwali is popularly known as the "festival of lights", the most significant spiritual meaning behind it is "the awareness of the inner light". It is the belief that there is something beyond the physical body and mind which is pure, infinite, and eternal, called the Atman. The celebration of Diwali as the "victory of good over evil” refers to the light of higher knowledge dispelling all ignorance, the ignorance that masks one's true nature, not as the body, but as the unchanging, infinite, immanent and transcendent reality. With this awakening come compassion and the awareness of the oneness of all things (higher knowledge). This brings Satcitananda (joy or peace). Just as we celebrate the birth of our physical being, Diwali is the celebration of this Inner Light. While the story behind Diwali and the manner of celebration varies from region to, the essence is the same – to rejoice in the Inner Light! And this year Diwali and All Souls' Day come together to fully defeat the Evil! "Happy Diwali!"JKadavoor Jee 06:00, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Huge Mistake!

ResolvedUnblocked on the English Wikipedia on 18 November.

There obviously has to be some kind of a huge mistake. I am not being a sock puppet to any of those users you have listed. I only one account, and the only account I have is me. Those others accounts, I happen to have relatives using those accounts, as we are using the same IP address, and I don't know how Beerest325 or whatever accuses me of something that I am not doing. I mean, can't one of the relatives support my requests without being accused of sockpuppetry by someone assuming that I'm doing it? Blurred Lines 19:08, 11 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

As we all know: Checkuser is not magic pixie dust. ... but: apparantly the edit pattern is alike as is the modus operandi. And I checked the activity of the accounts on the English Wikipedia and it turned out that each one followed up the other: Caccrop (14 Aug 2012-6 Apr 2013 blocked), Archcaster (30 Apr-24 Jul 2013) and Blurred Lines (24 Jul 2013-now). And since it's not allowed to vote on your own request, or to evade a block (COM:CU), I decided to perform a CU. And it looks pretty clear to me. Trijnsteltalk 19:26, 11 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
So, what exactly can I do to make you believe me, because this is despicable. Blurred Lines 19:28, 11 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Can't promise anything, but you could start telling your story. An explanation would be nice. Trijnsteltalk 20:59, 11 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Just in case you don't check your email often, I sended you something. Blurred Lines 21:27, 11 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I check my email regularly, but anyway, ✓ email received. Not yet sure what I should do though. Trijnsteltalk 21:33, 11 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Whatever the result of this ends up being, I think you (Blurred) should advise against letting the Archcaster account comment on your license requests. His comments will not probably be unbiased judging by the fact that you are relatives, and it could be seen as a form of meat puppetry. Beerest355 (talk) 22:59, 11 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • As blocking admin on the English Wikipedia, I agree with Trijnstel that the user really, really looks like a sock. Consecutive editing periods, similar topics (popular culture, particularly TV), and a penchant for blanking his talk page whenever there's something he doesn't like. As for "my sibling/relative did it", there's not really all that much that we can do to prove that. For the English Wikipedia, at the very least, see Wikipedia:My little brother did it. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:02, 11 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • I first noticed him when he made this request. He didn't complete the formalities like informing that user or made a request for acceptance.
  • Later I saw him at User_talk:Steinsplitter/Archive/2013#Image_reviewer repeatedly pledging for an approval.
  • Then I saw him at COM:FPC adding four nomination altogether and advised him about the policy there.
  • Later he closed a lot of nomination at COM:FPC with so many mistakes an we somehow reverted them quickly and hopefully managed it without much harm. That job is already assigned to a bot and only a very experienced user can assist in case of an emergency, considering the difficulty to follow all the complicated rules there.
  • Yesterday he edited the {{Assessments}} tag of a lot of previous FPs; against the existing consensus and Alvesgaspar stopped him in halfway.
  • This is another discussion on him.
It seems to me he has more exposure to WMF projects than just 3 months; but his editing pattern shows much immaturity. His user page at EN claims he is a teenager. Just some inputs from my side for Trijnstel, in case, any need. JKadavoor Jee 03:20, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Jkadavoor How exactly are those edits that I have done were immature, and I find that offensive that your going against my edits just because I'm a teenager, and that's just hurtful. Blurred Lines 03:46, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The FPC closings and edits on assessments at existing FPs are very immature and did a lot of harm. It is a pity you reverted the edits of many admins without asking, showing again your immaturity. I've no problem with your younger age, instead, I consider it as a excuse for your mistakes. If such edits are from an old one, I will be more bold. JKadavoor Jee 03:54, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
How is closing a FPC immature when I do it, because users can make mistakes with their edits without knowing it, and sometimes it's good to make mistakes. Also, I reverted edits by administrators because they don't use their edit summary to described what they have done and why they did it. Like, this one edit made by a admin, it removed all of the images that I nominated for QI without notifing me, or giving an explanation. Blurred Lines 04:30, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Jkadavoor. Much appreciated. I've heard that Blurred Lines is appealing his block on ENWP (UTRS #9272, [10]), so I think I'll wait for that. Trijnsteltalk 15:58, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

OK, maybe if it's better if I come straight; BL confessed to me via email about a fourth account (besides Caccrop, Archcaster and BL): Cacrop. @Blurred Lines, how do you think about me posting your story/explanation here and/or on the English Wikipedia? I think it's better if others can read that too. That seems reasonable imho. Trijnsteltalk 16:39, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Honestly, I really don't mind at all. Blurred Lines 16:41, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Perfect, here it comes then ('The Truth from Blurred Lines‏'):

Well, it all started with Cacrop, I was younger when I had that account. It was later blocked because I was vandalizing this account that kept reverting my edits. Months later in 2012, I had another account named Caccrop, which got blocked because this one user kept pissing me off, and I was vandalizing their user page. Then another account named Archcaster, I had that account months ago, but I decided to let that one go because I was too disgusted with it. Then here I stand, Blurred Lines, had been working with Wikimedia since July 2013. Obviously, I'm telling the truth because telling the truth can set you free, and me lying too much can makes things worsen for me. Also, I don't mind you blocking those other accounts that I used to have, but please don't block me. I was trying to do good ever since I had been here. Sometimes I do stupid stuff that I don't even start thinking about before I do it, but since I have gotten more mature, because I was obviously a child when I had those accounts, I thought I could put all of that behind me, but obviously, that didn't work, and I'm starting to regret it. Please, I just hope that after I send this message, it does not effect me by not editing here anymore.

Blurred Lines send me this email on 21:26, 11 November 2013 (UTC). Trijnsteltalk 16:55, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • I have no problem if decided to allow him continue editing; but IMHO he needs proper mentoring which is possible at EN:W if he is allowed to continue there. Encouraging youngsters is always good, and inline with our policies, but we need to take proper care to avoid any unfortunate incidents (as happened in a resent case). See this discussion too. I think most of his mistakes are due to his younger age and hopes he can grow out of it. Perhaps a block is good for his education and career too. Hope he understand. JKadavoor Jee 17:21, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
He added {{Retired}} on his page. JKadavoor Jee 07:07, 15 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not surprised. I just hope he won't create more sockpuppets. Trijnsteltalk 12:24, 15 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

can you help me?

thanks Trijnstel for telling me that Flickreview is just a BOT... lol, I didn't know it... so ok for Gettyimages, but I see that some wikimedia images are from Flickr... so if I want put on wikimedia an image from Flickr I can? I need license, I know, but how??? sorry for my english, I'm italian... thanks in advice, please answer me. best! ;) --94.164.201.116 19:45, 11 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! You can only upload free files such as CC-BY and CC-BY-SA though licenses with -NC or -ND in it are not allowed, see also COM:LICENSE. On Flickr licenses are always mentioned under "additional info". For more information about uploading files from Flickr, see COM:FLICKR. Hope this helps, if not, do ask please! CU

Hello,

I have a strong doubt of sockpuppetry on COM:QIC. There is a account with two uploads in september 2012, that has come to vote fore nominations from another user, and only for them, since november 9. Is this enough to ask for a CU ?

Pleclown (talk) 06:55, 13 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. That falls under vote-stacking (double voting or by giving the impression there is more support). How can I help? Which accounts etc? Trijnsteltalk 15:10, 13 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I will do a proper CU request later this day. Pleclown (talk) 15:20, 13 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

(Mogelijke) duplicaten

Hi Trijnstel, nothing really important nor urgent; would you mind sharing with us your thoughts about whether the timeline should show Commons Checkusers (elected) or all users with checkuser access at Commons (whether through steward or whatever). I am not sure what most visitors want to see and fear there are different expectations. Is it, btw. possible to find all users who ever had CheckUser access at Wikimedia Commons? Thank you. -- Rillke(q?) 21:51, 3 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Von Luxburg. If you really made the photo yourself (which I doubt because it's obviously made by a pro, because you send a lot of copyvio photos before and because you abused sockpuppets), please send an email to OTRS via the @luxburgfoundation.com domain and not with your private gmail address. New sock of Britneypiri

Hi Trijnstel. I ran across a new sock from an old master: User:Samipiri. When I ran check on User:Samuelpiri a while back (or one of the other socks), I found several more piris. I doubt this new one is alone. The uploads are always Brazilian CD covers and/or music logos. There's a page on cu.wiki. INeverCry 21:25, 5 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

See also this RFCU. This new sockpuppet is Confirmed as well and I haven't found more socks other than the recently checked ones. Trijnsteltalk 22:57, 5 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I let Teles know about this newest sock on pt.wiki. He already blocked the other two there in November. INeverCry 23:05, 5 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Anne Lan (maybe)

More IP activity today possibly connected to the Anne Lan account: [11]. Might just be an unconnected vandal too though. I've blocked this latest IP, as it caused a bit of trouble, but feel free to unblock it if needed. INeverCry 22:02, 5 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The Anne Lan case was strange but it's becoming more and more strange. I'll investigate this soon better. Thanks. Trijnsteltalk 23:00, 5 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

IRC comment

Sorry, missed your comment on IRC at the time. You asked why I'm not an admin on Commons. I actually started to put in some time, so I would feel comfortable asking, because I thought I ought to spend some time in deletion discussions to make sure I have a good sense of the rules and community consensus. Then some RL and work events interfered, and I was inactive on OTRS and Commons for a few months. Just getting back to it. I think I should spend a bit more time at Commons and OTRS first.--Sphilbrick (talk) 23:15, 8 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sphilbrick. No problem of course. Yeah, I remember now. When you're ready, you may always open a new RFA. ;) Regards, Trijnsteltalk 16:56, 9 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

We have a discussion at Commons_talk:Photographs_of_identifiable_people#Undiscussed_addition where we arrived in a conclusion to suggest adding a link of an email address at Commons:Contact us/Problems so that people can contact us if they have a complaint on a media hosted here that depicts them. Most of such people are non-Wikimedians so it will be helpful to them than relying on a DR which is not familiar to them. We mentioned it at Commons talk:Contact us/Problems; but the page Commons:Contact us/Problems is edit protected. While discussing this with Mdennis_(WMF), she said that she forwarded it to the OTRS team. As you too there; I hope you can help on this matter.

I think this suggestion is more meaningful considering the new amended resolution: "Treating any person who has a complaint about how they are portrayed in our projects with patience, kindness, and respect, and encouraging others to do the same." JKadavoor Jee 07:06, 9 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Will look at it, though not now. Be patient please, I will give a reply soon. :) Trijnsteltalk 23:22, 9 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
@Jee: Is my help still needed here? If so, I'll read the whole discussion, but it's quite long you know... Trijnsteltalk 11:22, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Trijnstel; it seems Mono already added those information there. My only doubt is where the wordings need any fine tuning as suggested by Saffron Blaze, later in that discussion. Thanks for looking into it. Jee 13:59, 9 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

New socks of Messina

Another of our old friends is back at it:

Hopefully these 3 are it. I've blocked and tagged them per a report on AN/BP. INeverCry 18:47, 12 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Not really. I've blocked and tagged 8 more sockpuppets. Trijnsteltalk 21:31, 12 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I used to check this guy every few days, along with people like Yair Mesa, Britneypiri, and others. Maybe Magog or Elcobbola can do regular checks on Messina. I actually got a long nasty email from a supporter of Messina back when I was checking/blocking him, saying what a great guy he was, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if Mesa has a new sock or two either, btw. INeverCry 21:55, 12 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hopefully I won't forget, but otherwise I'll ask them if they could help. Magog has just received the rights and Elcobbola will get them soon. Trijnsteltalk 22:05, 12 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I've left messages for both, mentioning this and pattern accounts. I have to admit, I miss having CU a bit. INeverCry 22:23, 12 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I miss you as my hardworking colleague CU as well... Trijnsteltalk 22:31, 12 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Is there anything stopping me from getting CU back? I was doing 1500+ checks per month: split between me and the 2 new guys, that's still 500 checks each. That's a workload I could handle. INeverCry 22:41, 12 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Personally I certainly wouldn't mind giving you the CU rights back. Users can get admin rights very easily back on Commons. Think of PumpkinSky formerly Rlevse who became an admin again after almost 2 years and MichaelMaggs who got the admin rights after 2,5 years -- and even became a bureaucrat again. So I assume the same applies for CU. Especially since you resigned only 2 months ago. And I know others who got the CU rights back after a while without having go through a RFCU. Barras for example, see the log. I asked the other stewards, but they couldn't help. I'd say: just request it on m:SRP and post a note on COM:BN so the bureaucrats are aware. I certainly would support your return and I'm sure the other users and CUs too. :) With regards, Trijnsteltalk 22:57, 12 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I'll give you the other accesses back tomorrow (if you have the rights again ofc). Trijnsteltalk 23:23, 12 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good. Thanks for supporting me on this. It's a bit of a hassle to see pattern accounts and socks and not be able to take care of the problem myself. INeverCry 23:37, 12 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I just blocked 30 more Messina socks on 3 ranges, some old, some new. This guy's really going to town. INeverCry 20:14, 13 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

30?! Gheez, that's really a lot. Didn't expect that many. Thanks for helping... Trijnsteltalk 20:21, 13 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I know. I put a few on CU wiki, but there were just too many. I tagged them all here though; his category is up to 68. I'll be checking those 3 ranges regularly, atleast for a while. INeverCry 20:41, 13 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Happy Holidays!
G'day, just a quick greeting wishing you and your family happy holidays and all the best for 2014. And of course, a big thank you for putting a leg up by doing what you do on Commons, and helping to make it the fantastic project that it is. Greetings from a warm west coast of Aussie. russavia (talk) 01:52, 24 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
