  • Vill du döpa om en bild? Ladda då upp den på nytt med det nya namnet och märk den gamla filen så här:{{bad name|nytt namn}}

Blue Grass Airport[edit]

Hi there, please do not revert to the previous version of this image. Thanks/wangi 14:53, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributions[edit]

I see that you've been uploading a number of great images of famous people. Did you really take them yourself? They are very good.. and we are in such need of free images of famous people. Thank you so much! Is there anything I can do to help you with your uploads? Again, thank you for your submissions. --Gmaxwell 02:09, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! And yes, they are all mine! Thanks for at least asking! It's some of the results of a period of 10+ years when I parallel to a lot of other completly different kind of photography did almost all the Hollywood celebs that came to Sweden to promote a new movie. My job as a freelancer was to provide pix to journalists that came in from Norway, Denmark, Finland and sometime other North European countries. And trust me, after meeting a couple of the stars, it all became a job. A fun job, but still! So far, I've only scanned some prints that just happen to lay around, with no particular assortment. When I in a hopefully not to far future get a scanner for transparencies there will be more, like Steve Martin, Carl Reiner, Desmond Llewelyn, Alan J Pakula, Matthew Broderick, Terry Gilliam, Roman Polanski, Michelle Pheiffer, Goldie Hawn and Jennifer Beals to name som of them! I have most of this also in color!
There are actually two things you can help with. First, I started to put the Bond chicks in a category related to the Bond movies, no problems. But then when I tried to put other people in a category for american actors I couldn't find my way in to the albums! Pushing the "edit" doesn't seem to take me where I want. Maybe I'm having a brain fart! Any suggestion?
Secondly, make sure the delete tag for the picture with Bailey, Graf and Kinsey is removed pronto!! I don't mind people asking questions about any of my pictures. I'll be happy to answer all of them. But to without discussion slam a red tag on the picture accusing it with an anonymous comment to be a "film screenshot" really pisses me off!! Although in a weird way, I guess it's kind of flattering too! --Towpilot 21:29, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps you should add your background info to your user-page. Please forgive people for thinking these may not be your images, but there are constantly people trying to pass off others work as their own - especially when it is high quality work or hard to get photos. So tell the community about yourself, and the number of deletion requests will go down rapidly once people get to know you. Your photos are really appreciated :-) --Tony Wills (talk) 09:32, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You uploaded this image which you claim to be your own work. On the upload page you agreed to place it under a Free license but did not specify which one. Please do so by adding a suitable copyright tag.--Panther 13:15, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Towpilot, I took the liberty of matching this upload to all your others. It's obvious that you know how things work around here and the lack of a tag was a simple oversight. --Gmaxwell 15:07, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oops! Thanks Gmaxwell! Yeah, that upload was kind of a quicky after I saw this picture on the Swedish wiki article about DC-4, and felt I could replace it with a better one. Normally I always scroll down after an upload, but not this time. Murphy's Law I guess. --Towpilot 02:34, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, we are using this on the english Wiki- would you like to give your real name so we can correctly credit your photo? Thanks Arniep 19:18, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why you add a redundant categories ? And you are doing this not first or second time ? --Pmgpmg 10:18, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image deletion warning Image:I Rossellini A Hopkins.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue.
In all cases, please do not take the deletion request personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Anyone is welcome to ask me any questions about any of my own pictures, where when and why they were taken by me and no one else, and I will be happy to tell and explain everything about them. It's been done before and I don't mind that at all. But to pass that obvious act of common sense and courtesy and instantly without discussion or questions accuse me of not having the copyright of this picture is nothing but an arrogant and snotty fucking attitude that really piss me off!!! I dare the doubting idiot Norro to first find a source or someone else claiming copyright to this or any else of my other own pictures that I uploaded so far. I just logged in to upload several new pictures, but I saw this and I'm seriously rethinking now to continue doing that and instead make sure that all my previously pictures also will be deleted!
Yeah, you bet your ass I take this deletion request the way it has been done personally!! --Towpilot (talk) 04:16, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it feels very personal when people want to get rid of your hard work !. But a deletion request is simply someone flagging the image for discussion. The community is pretty sensible about such things and I doubt it will get deleted without some evidence. You can even take it as a compliment that someone thinks this must be a commercial photograph :-). I know it is a pain, but post your comments, and info about the circumstances etc on the deletion discussion page (do you have a version with the EXIF info still attached?). --Tony Wills (talk) 09:23, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Great stuff![edit]

Thanks for placing these out where they can be used.

Have you considered creating a user page? It would probably greatly reduce the confusion that seems to arise now and then when people are surprised to see this sort of photos appear on Commons, and presume they might be copyvios. (I've been occasionally in a similar situation: "That can't be your picture! It's in Ha'aretz! Oh, wait, I see, they credit you.") - Jmabel ! talk 21:25, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your photo in NYT[edit]

Your photo of Oliver Stone was discussed in the New York Times, but they didn't realize you took it, instead saying that it was provided by him. That sucks :( 76.179.75.151 11:51, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article can be viewed online http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/20/arts/20funny.html Platonides (talk) 16:05, 6 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Platonides. I was trying to find something about it on the web after the first note by the anonymous IP-number above with no succes. Sure it sucks, but I guess I should take it as a compliment, even tough I was working full time as a professional photographer at the time and was expected to take pix of at least that quality! . On a serious note, this really proves something I been trying to say for a long time in different discussions. It is way to complicated for a 'non-wikipedian' to understand how to find the source for a picture used in a wikipedia article!!!!!! Yeah I know, all wiki users keep saying "It's only a click away", but obviously people doesn't always understand it if they not wikipedia contributers themself! And New York Times is not the only media to confused to figure it out! I was recently talking to a TV production company about the same thing. I brought up Wiki Commons as a source and she spontaneously said that "Yeah, but if you find a good picture it's hard to see if there are any more like it from the same photographer!" Makes me think about all snotty comments I've seen about "by-lines" on pictures from so called wikipedia users who doesn't understand when things can be made much easier on Wikipedia!
Anyway, Noam Cohen's article is interesting since it's written without any clue how difficult it can be to provide your own work here (just look at some of the attacks on my pictures above!). I think I will e-mail this journalist and tell about my experience here so far, and why I'm probably not the only one reluctant to give away more pictures with the attitude some people have here. --Towpilot (talk) 16:12, 7 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Aliens[edit]

Chicago aerial 02[edit]

I work for The Morton Arboretum, in Lisle, IL. We produce a "Happy Arbor Day" card every year, and this photo would be great for this year's card. However, the quality and resolution won't meet our printing standards. I haven't found a photo that seems to work better, but don't want to present this as a concept if it is unavailable.

Would you be willing to help us out and provide a better scan in some way?

I hope this works, I couldn't find a better way to contact you. I think my e-mail should be visible in my user account if you want to e-mail me directly.

File:Gale Ann Hurd and James Cameron.jpg[edit]

Stop reverting File:Gale Ann Hurd and James Cameron.jpg to the old version of the image. A consensus was made at Commons:Deletion_requests/File:Gale_Ann_Hurd_and_James_Cameron.jpg to crop the image to remove the copyrighted content. If you continue to revert the image, you will be warned for vandalism. Dream out loud (talk) 16:39, 27 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No "consensus" have ever been made! But some people with absolutely no background information about how, when and most important why this picture was taken have vandalized it by cropping it several times! No one have showed nothing but an arrogant attitude thinking that they know better than me or Fox about who owns the rights to this picture. I've said before and I say it again, I don't mind answering any questions about my pictures, but making up your own assumptions without even first asking me really PISS ME OFF!!!! Yes, it's this stinking nazi attitude with no discussions from other users that have made me stop uploading any more of my pictures of celebs or anything! A simple question to me first would have been so easy!
James Cameron came up with the idea to this picture and he asked me to take it. The set up is according to his own directions. The reason was pretty obvious. Fox Film wanted this picture, including the complete poster, to be spread and published as much as possible to promote the movie. It was published at the time as is in several daily newspapers and magazines in more than one country with Fox Film's good memory. Last year it was also reused in one episode of "E! True Hollywood Story" about James Cameron. The production company told me they did in fact, just to be sure, check with Fox who said as expected they did not claim any rights to my picture! If anyone don't like my pictures and don't want to use them here, fine. But stop vandalize them with your own imaginary made up stories without checking the real facts first! --Towpilot (talk) 05:35, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Towpilot! Did James Cameron know that the photo would be used for commercial purposes? Or could he perhaps have thought that it was just for personal usage?
Mistakes do happen. But once a descision has been made in a DR the correct procedure is to start a new DR is you want the file deleted or go to COM:UDEL if you want the file undeleted.
If you know James Cameron/Fox perhaps you could ask him/Fox to send a permission to OTRS? That should solve the problem once and for all. I'm sure everyone here on Commons would love to have your photo in full size once we are sure there is no copyright problems. --MGA73 (talk) 23:14, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hi MGA73! I don't understand your questions! I have already explained above exactly how, when and why the picture was taken! Read it again and tell me exactly what part or words you don't understand. Why would James Cameron think I took the picture "for personal use"? Dream out loud have absolutely no clue what he's talking about! He refuses to listen to my explaination and obviously makes his own rules and expect the rest of us to accept and follow them! Is that Wikimedia Commons normal policy? Can I make some rules of my own and insist everyone else to follow them too? Where exactly does it say exactly how much of the poster that's legal to show, except in Dream out loud's imaginary world? He "thinks" but unlike me he can not give any solid explaination. How can he be sure it's OK to show Sigorney's eyebrows but not her nose? Her hairdo is probably copyright by Fox, do we dare to show that? Answer these questions or I will say someone is just making up own "rules" hiding behind the computer screen! I have explained how and why the picture was taken several times now. I have also explained in what media this picture have already been used and under what conditions without any problems, but for some reason that information is ignored. Are you guys saying that I'm lying or what? This stinking attitude really pisses me off and is THE reason I have no intention to upload any more pictures what so ever! It's not up to me to prove that the picture is mine more than telling under what circumstances it was taken. It's not up to me to get a "permission" for my very own picture from Fox, like I wrote above they made no claims when the pic was used in E! True Hollywood Story! It's not up to me to prove I'm innocent, it's up to Dream out loud to prove I'm guilty!! It's up to him to prove he's following exact instructions from somewhere how the pic should be cropped, exact what can be shown and exact what can not and that he's not cropping by his own interpretations or own home made rules! Seriously, it's called Wikimedia Commons, but where's the common sense? Why are we accepting a few stiffnecks sitting on their high horses puking BS about things they don't know anything about? This is a unique picture and I gave W Commons a unique permission to use it because I know that I, and no one else own the copyright to it! If you are jealous and don't like I took it, be a grown up and say so instead of vandalizing the picture! If you guys don't like my pictures, be my guest and delete them all! Over a million pictures are uploaded here. A few pictures from me don't make a difference!--Towpilot (talk) 06:17, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
As expected, no one have been able to defend the vandalizing cropping of my picture or explain where the rules about why and exactly how much a picture like this has to be cropped! Therefore, as the original and ONLY copyright holder I reverted the picture! --Towpilot (talk) 09:29, 30 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

WTF is going on here?? One person with no clue about anything have randomly picked one of my pictures that I took saying: "No evidence that uploader is copyright holder" a week ago! What "evidence" is keeping my other pictures? What "evidence" is keeping any other pictures here on Wikimedia Commons? Have any of you morons checked what else I have uploaded? Only because this place is clogged with amateurs like User:Kelly some of us have been working as professional photographers! Every single picture I have uploaded here is taken by me and no one else! If you don't like them, fine, delete them all, but don't come with bullshit like this with no reasonable "evidence" that I didn't take the picture or time to discuss it!
I challenge anyone in general and User:Kelly in specific to come up with "evidence" that I am NOT the photographer of this or any of my other pictures here on commons. Remember, if you can not come up with anything better than you "don't think" I took the pictures as "evidence" you're painting yourself as pretty stupid!
Me, angry? You bet I am! I've said it before and I say it again, I'm happy to answer any normal questions from anyone about any of my pictuers, but don't sneak up like an idiot and think you know something about my pictures that I don't! Your images[edit]

I'm sorry that you have encountered so many problems with other Commons users mistaking your work for copyrighted images. However, your response to this problem has not been ideal, either. It does no one any good for you to get angry and start cursing people who are just trying to keep Commons free of copyright violations.

You could virtually guarantee that your images would not be questioned again if you followed some simple advice. If you send a message to our "Open Ticket Request System", explicitly claiming ownership over the photos you've uploaded, the end result will be a clear tag on each image stating that your permission is on file and verified. Having an OTRS ticket number on each of your uploads will go a long way toward avoiding future deletion requests from well-meaning individuals unfamiliar with your work.

Please give it a thought, so we can avoid the need for this sort of thing in the future.

Thank you for your contributions![edit]

Hello Towpilot! I just wanted to drop you a note and thank you for your many high quality contributions to Commons. Every now and then I spot one of your photographs illustrate an article. It improves the impression of the article and I believe illustrations help the mind retain information. Thank you very much! --Bensin (talk) 20:17, 17 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
