Thank you for your contributions. Your image or other content was recently deleted, or will soon be deleted, in accordance with our process and policies, because it was not, or is not, within our scope. Please review our project scope, but in short, Commons is targeted at educational media files including photographs, diagrams, animations, music, spoken text and video clips. The expression “educational” is to be understood according to its broad meaning of “providing knowledge; instructional or informative”. Wikimedia Commons does not contain text articles like encyclopedia articles, textbooks, news, word definitions and such. Each of these other kinds of content have their own projects: Wikipedia, Wikibooks, Wikisource, Wikinews, Wiktionary and Wikiquote. If the content seems to fit the scope of one of those other projects, please consider contributing it there. Otherwise, consider an alternative outlet. If you think that the deletion was in error because the contribution really was in scope, you can appeal it at Commons:Undeletion requests, giving a reason why it fits our scope to help others evaluate the matter. Thank you for your understanding.

Your user page had nothing to do with Commons as a project. References are appropriated on Wikipedia maybe but not here. Commons is solely setup to host media for other projects. Thanks Herby talk thyme 12:33, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Transparent keypad touchscreen.png, is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such works would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a map that has been altered from the original. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.

Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted. If you created the original content yourself, enter this information as the source. If someone else created the content, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you!

Hi, If you look at the citations that reference these images, you will find them at the beginning or at the end of the patents.
If you go to my Userpage Touchscreen1, there is a list of my patents showing these images.
The images posted in Wikipedia were created by myself, and are not derivative.

Hi, I do not understand how these images are derivative. They are taken from images in the cited patents. Touchscreen1 (talk) 11:43, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I own the rights to these images and give permission for them to be used. Touchscreen1 (talk) 11:45, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, This image was originally created by myself, Ron Binstead (Touchscreen1) and I give permission for its use in Wikipedia. Touchscreen1 (talk) 12:04, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi DMacks, I have added details concerning the fact that these images were originated by myself , and are not derivative from other sources. If you have time, can you look and see what I have done, and let me know if it is sufficient? If not, can you let me know what else I need to do? Kind regards Ron Binstead ( Touchscreen1). Touchscreen1 (talk) 18:18, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the information. Uploading material from your own patents is generally fine. You say they are from cited patents, but I don't see a citation to a patent at, for example, commons:File:Simple AI Block Diagram.png. The issue here is about letting others verify the license compliance by tracing the source from any given file. Or also for finding out more information about the topic. DMacks (talk) 04:27, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi DMacks, There is no citation for commons:FileSimple AI Block Diagram.png because this file is not published in Wikipedia. It was redacted by someone a long time ago, possibly on the mistaken grounds of being derivative. This diagram is in the same patent that cites commons:File:Keypad-Touchscreen.png . If you look in all the patents cited for the other images, you will find those images there. I hope this is sufficient verification that these images are not derivative; if not, can you kindly let me know what else is required. Kind regards Ron Touchscreen1 (talk) 10:58, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have attached the relevant patent numbers with the diagrams so viewers can verify the original source of those images, and can confirm I am the originator. Touchscreen1 (talk) 11:12, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Patent-number is a perfect type of detail. It gives the source and that the source matches you. DMacks (talk) 06:42, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
