POTY 2006[edit]

Your voting will not be considered due the the fact that you have less than 100 edits in Commons. Please check the instructions. Alvesgaspar 17:49, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm the same user as en:User:Tomtheman5. Thanks. tiZom(2¢) 18:08, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You need to do it the other way around - make the confirmation on the talk page of the account where you have > 100 edits. post that diff in your vote. at the moment your vote is invalid. pfctdayelise (说什么?) 06:49, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please read Commons:Picture of the Year/2006#Who can vote in the final? for instructions on how to vote. — coelacan07:03, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the confusion. I see your point there. The diff is here. The one-and-the-same certification is in the edit summary. Thanks. tiZom(2¢) 03:15, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:SVG problems[edit]

Ack, I thought I had replied already... another of my "write and don't save" moments. I am sorry :(

I don't know if the text being on a path is what was making it not show up, but when text is on a path it means an edge of the text (usually top or bottom) is snapped to a path (circle, square, line, etc), which effectively connects it to said path. I thought that would be a likely reason it was not appearing: if the path the text is snapped to is below layers the text will not show up either. However, some of the text that wasn't showing up was in transparent areas, which is why I wasn't sure if that was the problem. At any rate, it is fixed now :)

As for SVG resources for newbies, I didn't use one myself (I use the old click-and-see-what-happens technique to figure out new programs) but I believe that Theresa Knott was creating one. Ah, found it here. I haven't looked through it but I'm sure she did a good job on it. Hope that helps, and feel free to drop by if you have any more questions! -- Editor at Largetalk 02:39, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Tomtheman5!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.
