Youtube images[edit]
Hi Thibaut120094. I notice that you patrolled this (Stockton Rush (cropped).png) image for the Titan submersible implosion article. I had no idea that YouTube has a creative commons licensing tag, and that it was acceptable to Wikipedia. I have been struggling to find photographs for the WikiClimbing Project, but there are lots of climbing videos that have the "Creative Commons Attribution license (reuse allowed)" tag on YouTube. Am I allowed to take individual images off these videos and import to Commons? Is there any additional guidance around this process or things that I could be careful of? Any help or links would be much appreciated - just want to make sure that I understand this before I start importing. Aszx5000 (talk) 16:54, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Aszx5000!
- Indeed, we have a license tag for CC-licensed videos on YouTube, everything is explained on Commons:YouTube files.
- You just need to add the original YouTube link, the timestamp of the image captured, {{YouTube CC-BY}} and {{YouTubeReview}} and you're good to go!
- Make sure that the YouTube channel is the author of the video (there are some YouTube channels that reupload videos for which they do not hold the rights).

- Thank you so much for that, and will follow your steps. I went ahead and downloaded screenshots from a good source (Petzel, who make/comission their own climbing videos), and then used the crop tool to edit out the youtube parts. However, I kept the first screenshot as I thought I would need it to prove the timestamp and origin. So of the 9 screenshots I downloaded, I am left with the cropped and the original (e.g. File:Ueli Steck Les Drus "North Couloir Direct" (VI, Al 6+, M8) 9.png and File:Ueli Steck Les Drus "North Couloir Direct" (VI, Al 6+, M8) 9 (cropped).png).
- Do I attach the timestamp (and YouTubeReview tag) to the cropped version, and then put the original download up for speedy deletion (to avoid having excess copies in the Category:Ueli Steck, as I currently have). Thanks in advance for your help? Aszx5000 (talk) 19:28, 6 July 2023 (UTC)

No include in cats[edit]
Hey @Thibaut120094, I am requesting some advice on the issue about no include in categories with hot cat. I have seen that about 6 years ago you were also interested in this. I also believe this would be great. Do you know of some way how to add FoP cases pending with a no include with hot cat or similarly? Else I I'd always need to click several more buttons and open at least two more windows to also add the no include. Paradise Chronicle (talk) 22:06, 30 December 2023 (UTC)

Error when uploading[edit]
Hi Thibaut120094,
I made an error when uploading an image to wikimedia commons.
The error that I think I made was that I gave the incorrect license to an image.
I had been uploading images that were from books related to art.
The image that I was uploading was on this occaision not from an art book. It was from the British Museum website.
This is the image here at the British Museum:

In the bottom right corner it says "Use this image".
When I click on that it takes me to a second page here:

At this page it gives the following license:
"The image will be released to you under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0) license."
I think what I did was when I uploaded this image I did not use the license that is shown on the "Use this image" page. I used the license where the "Author has been deceased for more than 70 years." I did this in error.
At least this is what I think I did from my memory. When I read the deletion log I can't see exactly what I did. From my memory at least this is what I did wrong.

This is the first time I have made this error. Is this the correct place for me to make an Undeletion request in regards to this image?
I made a guess that this is something that could be done in this situation when an erorr is made. I was not certain.
The request I would make would be to upload the Image from the British Museum with the license that was made availble with it.
