Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~. To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg. You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account. There are several tools to upload files. Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful. Made a mistake? Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it. Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Don't overwrite photographs with newer ones

Hi. In general, please don't overwrite photographs with newer, different ones, unless you are just uploading an improved version of the same photograph. Upload the newer photographs under different names. I've reverted "File:CC21HollandVillage.jpg" to the original version and renamed it to "File:Holland Village MRT Station, Singapore, under construction - 20090706.jpg", and uploaded the newer versions of the files as "File:Holland Village MRT Station, Singapore, under construction - 20101118.jpg" and "File:Interior of Holland Village MRT Station - 20111008.jpg". — SMUconlaw (talk) 22:12, 19 July 2013 (UTC)

Oh, dear, I just noticed you have been doing this for many photographs of MRT stations. Could you please revert your changes and upload the new photographs under new filenames? Thanks. — SMUconlaw (talk) 22:14, 19 July 2013 (UTC)
