This is not OK. --Yann (talk) 10:33, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

What isn’t OK? 92.40.199.86 17:24, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Incivility. Insulting people for no reason is rightly seen on all Wikimedia projects as harassment and is generally blockable if the contributor does it as one of their first activities on the site. COM:NOTWEBHOST also applies to images hosted by Commons; images of people are generally only kept if the people are likely to be notable or if the image itself is likely to be educational. The editor who deleted your photo was just following policy, there was no need to go insult them for it. AryKun (talk) 18:05, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I have been on Wikipedia for 16 years and not a new contributor? I still don’t see what the harassment is here? It’s a figure of speech?
thanks 92.40.199.84 18:06, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Calling them an "idiot" is the harassment; idiot certainly isn't a figure of speech. The block was a bit overkill for a first violation though; @Yann: , would you mind maybe unblocking and just leaving a warning to see if they contribute constructively in the future? AryKun (talk) 19:10, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Comment I blocked 92.40.199.0/24. Do not edit again, except for an apology, or you will be blocked longer. Yann (talk) 19:55, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Good Evening @Yann, I am not sure where my last comment has disappeared to, not sure if it posted. In hindsight it was poorly worded and thought through talk message and I fully agree it wasn't the right way in saying what I was trying to say. I have been a contributing member of Wikipedia for over 16 years and this is the first issue I have had, it almost feels like there is a collective attack against me deleting contributions and images and I reacted in a non-calm way. Again, I deeply apologise for any distress caused. Swans07 (talk) 21:07, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Yann: courtesy ping since Swans seems to have formatted it incorrectly above. AryKun (talk) 12:01, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Swans07, the following content you uploaded violates one or more of our policies and therefore has been or will soon be deleted:

File:Nicky Thomas in 2021.png

The Wikimedia Commons (this website) only hosts media files with a realistic educational purpose and that can be used for any purpose, including:
  • use in any work, regardless of content
  • creation of derivative works
  • commercial use
  • free distribution

See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons, and Commons:Image casebook for some specific examples. Some other Wikimedia projects have different licensing policies. For example, the English Wikipedia allows fair use of sounds and photographs. This is not the case on Wikimedia Commons; "fair use" materials are not acceptable here.

Please make sure that you only upload educational content you have created yourself, those which are out of copyright, or those for which you have the required permission for the work to be used in all the ways described above. Please note that derivative works of copyrighted material are also considered copyrighted. Again, please read through Commons:Licensing, which is quite crucial, to understanding how Wikimedia Commons works. Thanks for your contribution, and please do leave me a message if you have further questions.

Yours sincerely, Yann (talk) 17:03, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

File:Swansea Devil at Swansea Museum.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Hi Jim, I can confirm I am Nicky Thomas. I uploaded the photo to Wiki in June 2021 and the author on that website used it in their article in May 2022 and credited me. My website is at www.nickythomas.net and not the one you have provided. I hope this helps. Swans07 (talk) 21:40, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
