This file may be deleted.
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Michael Somes and Margot Fonteyn, Theatre Arts Magazine September 1957 part 2.jpg, is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such works would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a map that has been altered from the original. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.

Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted. If you created the original content yourself, enter this information as the source. If someone else created the content, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you!

Patrick Rogel If you look at the link, the photograph of the title page is linked with all the verifying data on why it is in the public domain. Copyright was not renewed for the magazine from 1957 to 1959. Further, you will note that I posted for help on the common's help desk [1] and they linked in permissions the title page and research [2] SusunW (talk) 16:29, 27 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. I've carefully watch the picture for an incoming tour by the Royal Ballet so it's very likely that picture has been shot in UK probably 1956 and not in the U.S.A. Anyway this cover is a derivative work so it's irrelevant here to mention when cover has been published and it'd be better to mention when it was created. In short, if shot 1956 in UK, it's not public domain there so not suitable for Commons. Kind regards, --Patrick Rogel (talk) 16:51, 27 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
File:Michael Somes and Margot Fonteyn, Theatre Arts Magazine September 1957 part 2.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

You marked this as c. 1924. There's some evidence it's 1925 or later (the address of the photographer on it was from 1925 and on, though there's no guarantee the text came from the same year the photographer took the image, so that's not proof).

This is kind of important. The earlier the date can be shown to be, the less problems URAA restorations cause. There's also another way it might get around URAA, but first, I want to know if there's anything this definitely happened before, other than her retirement as president of the National Council of Women. I was doing so much work on these photos, I honestly don't remember. My big concern was that the copyright tag indicated that it was a photograph of a piece of art. It may well have just been a typo. Her life was so full of honors, honored as a knight (Legion of Honour) in 1920 and that same year was elected VP of the International Council of Women, in 1922 she became president of the National Council of French Women and that same year was appointed to the Standing Advisory Committee of the League of Nations on trafficking, from 1925 she was delegate to the League of Nations so there a lot of things that happened before. (Even earlier stuff, but from the style of dress, this is likely a 1920s shot, not earlier). SusunW (talk) 17:52, 26 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Adam Cuerden still working on this. 1910 photo, clearly much younger without as much gray hair. This is from 1922 and agewise, she clearly appears about the same as in our photo, though the dress style is clearly earlier and similar to what she wore in 1910. This from 1929, clearly shows our photo had to have been taken earlier, as she is quite aged in this one. I don't know how to search by date range on this site, so am pulling up each article and searching. SusunW (talk) 22:41, 27 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Adam Cuerden I switched gears because I couldn't figure out how to search less on the French site. I am fairly positive this is from the same series [3], even though it is a terrible print: note the little scarf-like sleeve, the square necked dress, the hanging jewelry thing on her shoulder, the similar hair style, the desk with pen in her hand. Dates to 1925. SusunW (talk) 20:50, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Think I agree. Well. Worst case scenario, then, it'll disappear for 6 months or so. That's not so bad. Adam Cuerden (talk) 12:35, 8 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
But wouldn't that be only for the US, because it is in the PD in France. But yes, I had come to a similar conclusion. I'll search for another image on her for the class-A review, as I am hip deep in photo misery. SusunW (talk) 12:49, 8 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrolled rights given[edit]

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you.. - FitIndia Talk 19:03, 2 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

File moved[edit]

I have file mover rights here and uploader preferences are one of the acceptable criteria for moving a file not currently in use, so I have gone ahead and moved your file with no redirect, to File:Mary Burks.jpg. I hope that works for you. Yngvadottir (talk) 21:43, 27 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much Yngvadottir! Really appreciate the help. SusunW (talk) 21:46, 27 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Pas de quoi; I see you or someone else has now used it to replace the non-free image where it was in use and that one has been renamed; it should be nominated for deletion on the grounds that it has been replaced by a free image, but I'm sure someone or some bot will do that. Yngvadottir (talk) 21:54, 27 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
That's what I figured as well, Yngvadottir. I thought if I could get the name part sorted, (clearly my error, but I didn't realize the commons wouldn't automatically override the English WP one) that a bot or someone would eventually get rid of the non-free one.
