Thank you for providing images to the commons. Please keep in mind that images and other files on the commons must be under a free license and should be usefull to the wikimedia projects. To allow others to use your files, some additional information must be given on the description page. Most importantly:
- Describe what it is about in a short sentence. (What does the image show?)
- State the author and the date of creation. If you made it yourself, say so explicitely.
- If you did not create the file yourself, state the source you got it from.
- Add a Copyright tag - images without a appropriate license tag will be deleted.
- Add the image to one or more gallery pages and/or appropriate Categories, so it can be found by others.
If you copied the file from another wiki, please copy all information given there and say who uploaded it to that wiki.
Please add as much information as possible. If there is not sufficient information, the file may have to be deleted.

Hi - when copying images from a wikipedia, please always copy all info from the description page, too, especially info about the source and original author of the image. A link to the description page on the wikipedia is not sufficient, as images that have been copyied to the commons are often deleted from the wikipedia(s). I had a look at some more images you uploaded - most of them do not state who created the image. Note that the GFDL and CC-by-sa licenses require the author to be named. If you created the images yourself, please say so explicitely, there is no way to tell who's the author otherwise.
It would be best if you would use Template:Information (plus a copyright tag) for the image descriptions - see Image:Lightmatter_flamingo2.jpg for an example of how to do that. thanks again for contributing to the commons! -- Duesentrieb 12:34, 24 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- The "permission" field should state the license - If you created the image yourself, just put "GFDL" or "CC-by-sa" there (dual licensing under GFDL and CC-by-sa is preferred). If the picture is by someone else, put a link here that points to the permission (for example, a link to the license information of the webpage you downloaded the image from). You should also put a copyright tag below the information box.
- The "other versions" firld is for links to other versions of the same image - usually this is empty. But if there are versions of the image with different colors or text in different languages, link them here.
There is more information on the usage of the template on its talk page Template talk:Information, please have a look.
Also, please put your images on a gallery page or in (at least) one category, so they can be found by others. Images that can not be found by navigating the category structure are useless to others. Thanks! -- Duesentrieb 13:11, 24 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Hutong[edit]
Thank you for you effort. Don't worry about you english! Mine isnt too good either, while yours is understable enough. The descriptions can be corrected by everyone, as I did for Image:Hutong 2 (Snowyowls).jpg. The only think I dont know is why your chineese characters was changed into "?" in the description - any idea? Please let me know when you will describe the other two photos about hutong. Dorotheanthus bellidiformis 属于Aizoaceae （番石榴科，石竹目），和生石花（Lithops sp）属于同一科，形状也相似，在英文中叫living stone 和生石花俗名相同，与同一目的仙人掌有亲缘关系，和菊科植物（Asteraceae）没有任何相同点，虽然有时番石榴科也写作 Mesembryanthemaceae（翻译成中文为松叶菊），但并不是菊科。正如斑马菊在中文中也叫做“菊”，实际是爵床科，和菊科没有任何关系。

Door and Gate[edit]
Hello. Thank you for your question. In English, a door is usually a way in or out of an enclosed space (a building, a room, a car, a bus...) while a gate may connect two open spaces. So a field, a garden, a courtyard, or a walled city will usually have a gate, not a door. However some large important or ceremonial buildings (perhaps temples or palaces) may have such large open halls and areas that it is not quite certain whether their entrances are gates or doors! I saw that you copied Image:Rubiks cube solved.jpg from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Rubiks_cube_solved.jpg to here on Wikipedia Commons. However, under the current policies on en.wikipedia, images moved from there to here on Commons do not qualify for speedy deletion yet. This is because, under the GNU Free Documentation License, we still need to keep the original image so can keep the record that User:TheCoffee was the person who originally uploaded that image. About PD[edit]
看到你的留言，你说的确实很有道理，我以前是根据Template{{PD}} 说明是根据大部分国家的法律，查了一下确实存在template:{{PD-China}}，中国出版的图片即使在共享也应该服从50年。但我觉得在共享和中文中还是有一定的区别： 一、共享中只承认加入国际版权条约后出版的图片，如前苏联的template:{{Sovietpd}}，虽然一些图片在俄罗斯仍然有版权，但共享中可以认为是PD，是否中国的也一样； 二、依据国际惯例，法律一般没有追朔性，美国甚至在宪法中规定不得订立有追朔性的法律。但在中国的司法实践中，即使在《知识产权法》颁布以前出版的图片也受这法律保护，共享中是否也应该不考虑其追朔性。--Fanghong 06:32, 29 August 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Fly.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|cc-by-sa-3.0}} to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Tip: Categorizing images[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]][[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
