Please do not modify an image's license[edit]

Do not attatch new licenses or copyright images by others. You must uphold the terms of thier licenses.



Re:Vector version[edit]

Vector and bitmap images are inherently very different and store data in very different ways. Therefore I believe that images in both formats should be stored here at Commons because certain details might appear differently and may give future contributors a better idea of what it should look like.

I know it is a very fuzzy reason, and the most people here doesn't agree with me. It just feels wrong to delete good, original work for no very good reason. No biggie nevertheless. Cheers --Himasaram 12:15, 25 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

COAs[edit]

Hi!

I see you are going to work with conversion of COAs. Some time ago I proposed naming scheme for SVG version (I think very good scheme):

Here are country codes list w:en:ISO_3166-1

Same do with flags changing only postfix from _COA to _flag

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful informations about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
