MOTD[edit]

Thank you for your uploads. May I suggest that three nominations of films on similar subjects in the same month is maybe a little bit too much Clin ? It looks like you nominate nearly all your uploads... Cheers, — Racconish ☎ 12:12, 11 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I am just choose for every media of the day that I upload a date where a picture of the day is related to similar topic or looks alike a video. The picture of April 20 is a photograph of a cable-stayed bridge, so I've selected for this date media of a cable-stayed bridge that showing its cables and towers on details and views from above. Look at the video which I've uploaded not only as a video of urban climbing, but as a video that showing details of a cable-stayed bridge too. I haven't found any photos of cable-stayed bridges in 2017 to select another date for this video. And picture of the day for April 16 featuring different urban objects and looks alike the preview of another urban climbing video, the same situation is with the photo of climbers on a TV tower and bungee jumping from another TV tower (April 7). As an example, I've added two different mountain parachuting videos as MOTDs in May, because there are two beautiful photos of mountains in that month that look alike mountain skydiver's view from these videos.
I don't tnink that only 2 videos of urban climbing + one photo of climbers on a TV tower are very much for a month, because the situation with pictures of the day is much worse. For example, more than a half (!) of all April POTDs represents architecture, and 11 of them are photographs of buildings. Some of them are very similar to each other (for example, picture of April 2 and April 10 represent European churches, picture of April 3 is also an interior of church and looks alike photo of April 30). Also there are 4 photos of insects in this month (and there are no photos of another animals like birds, mammals, reptiles and etc), 3 of them featuring only butterflies (+ one video). In case of February 2017, 10 (!) of 28 photos were related to the topic of American black people. In comparison with these examples, only 2 videos of urban climbing isn't very much, and they are actually differ and complement each other - the first video shows climbing on buildings and low objects from a third-person view, the second one shows climbing onto a high bridge from a first-person view (like pictures showing exterior and interior of cathedrals), so I suggest to let the urban climbing topic to be the small media-topic of April, such as butterflies or cathedrals - we have only a photo of climbers on a TV-tower, TPV video-review of climbing on small buildings and FPV video of climbing on high bridge. Their difference is much better than a 3 similar photos and one video of butterflies, or 10 photos of black people per month + in pairs with photos of objects they represents three different kinds of architectural objects - TV-towers, small urban objects and cable bridges ;).
And your suggestion of video of sushi isn't suitable for this April 20, because it's completely unrelated to the topic of bridges (see POTD of April 20), and for this video of sushi it's better to choose another date with picture related to food or Japan. I suggest you to choose June 30, because picture of that day represents a popular tourist place in Japanese city where there are some restaurants, and there is a water too ;) If you want to choose April's date, it's better to choose April 27 where is a picture of a grasshopper, because there are no pictures of food or Japan in this month, however, some insects are eaten as a food in Asian countries, and sushi is another Asian food. For April 20 it's better to remain a video showing cable-stayed bridges, which is similar to a night photo of another cable bridge, but represents it from another view and during a day. However, June 2017 has 3 photos of Japanese objects, so that video of sushi should be better to view in the same context of Japan with a Japanese photo in that month. Kindly provide a link to a community discussion suggesting, even remotely, there should be a relationship between POTD and MOTD. Thanks, — Racconish ☎ 10:18, 12 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
