Image deletion warning | Image:Cyrus portrait.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file. |

Image Tagging Image:St-Stepanous-01.jpg[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:St-Stepanous-01.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multilicense GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Ryoji Ikeda Data.Tron images[edit]
Thanks for uploading File:Transmediale-2010-Ryoji Ikeda-Data-Tron-1.jpg and File:Transmediale-2010-Ryoji Ikeda-Data-Tron-2.jpg. However, I think we would need OTRS confirmation from Ryoji Ikeda that he allows those pictures of his work to be released under a free license. Since you've been in contact with him, could you try to arrange that? I already linked to our standard boilerplate permission confirmation text from the DR page. Thanks, and feel free to ask me if you have any questions. —Ilmari Karonen (talk) 21:39, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
- Hi. I don't have any problems doing this, but this is not right in terms of Copyright and/or Intellectual Property laws (regardless of the jurisdiction). The rights of these image are mine; not Ikeda's. Please enlighten me if I'm wrong. --Shervinafshar (talk) 18:02, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
- They show his copyrighted work, don't they? That would make them derivative works. —Ilmari Karonen (talk) 19:38, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
- No. If I film the whole thing you would be right. These are just shots of one single frame of an audiovisual installation in an exhibition space where photography was allowed. Better example, music concerts are considered highly commercial copyrighted material, but this is fine, because it's a shot of the whole performance taken by someone who put it here. Also, in jurisdiction where the photo was taken, Freedom of Panorama does exist. Also, even in COM:DW it's mentioned that photos of artworks in public space are "derivative works, but they may be OK". An example of these types of photos can be found here. -- Shervinafshar (talk) 20:07, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
- So you're claiming that they count as de minimis, then? I suppose they could be, although I believe the consensus on Commons has been that e.g. screenshots of movies don't count as de minimis, even though they show only one frame out of hundreds of thousands, since their main subject is still (a part of) a copyrighted work, and that part is still distinctive and original enough to be eligible for copyright on its own. As for the German Panoramafreiheit, I think it's been established in earlier discussions that it only applies to "works that are permanently located on public ways, streets or places", and in particular that it doesn't apply indoors.
- (For live concert photos, the situation is a bit different, in that the live performance is not "fixed in a tangible medium" and therefore not subject to copyright (although it can be protected by related rights in some countries). However, it seems that your example image is in fact a photograph of a concert screen, and probably should be nominated for deletion; we've deleted quite a few similar images before.) —Ilmari Karonen (talk) 23:48, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
- I think these can be considered as DM because none of them show even a full frame of the work. One shows less than one-twentieth of one frame and the other shows part of the projection wall. --Shervinafshar (talk) 18:40, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

Flag of Montenegro[edit]
Regarding your question about the copyright status of File:Flag of Montenegro.svg, I have no problem changing the licence to public domain (in fact, some people said that it should be PD according to Montenegrin law). Thanks for your question! --B1mbo (talk) 18:09, 23 July 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for your response. I changed the license to PD and documented the change in the talk page of the image. --Shervinafshar (talk) 19:31, 23 July 2014 (UTC)
Regarding Flag_of_Kosovo.svg[edit]
Hello
In response to your message:
"Hello. I noticed that you and Cradel created an SVG for Flag of Kosovo. I am involved in a project to put together a repository of flags for all standard registered geographical regions (according to IETF language tag and IANA Subtag Registry). Our main criteria for this repository is that all the flags are available as Public Domain. So far we managed to collect information for 240 out of 246 needed flag which are all available as Public Domain on Wikipedias or Commons. Few examples:
SZ: File:Flag_of_Swaziland.svg TA: File:Flag_of_Tristan_da_Cunha.svg TC: File:Flag_of_the_Turks_and_Caicos_Islands.svg TD: File:Flag_of_Chad.svg TG: File:Flag_of_Togo.svg TH: File:Flag_of_Thailand.svg TJ: File:Flag_of_Tajikistan.svg TK: File:Flag_of_Tokelau.svg Your file, Flag of Kosovo, is among those 6 which are not release under Public Domain and I'm contacting you (as well as Cradel) to see if it would be possible to re-license this image under PD. Obviously, if you agree to do this, we will make sure that a link-back to Commons page for the image as well as authors' attribution are embedded in the file's metadata fields. We will also provide all the authors of those images collected with a link to the public repository where last version of images are stored. I'd appreciate it if you let me know about the possibility of this. Thank you very much in advance. --Shervinafshar (talk) 00:26, 10 July 2014 (UTC)"
I am fine with releasing it as public domain. --Ningyou (talk) 15:12, 30 May 2016 (UTC)

File tagging File:Reza Abedini.jpg[edit]
This media was probably deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Reza Abedini.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Reza Abedini.jpg]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |
