File:Tri-Valley Jazz Trio.png has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

OK, I probably used CropTool for this one, so in that case I don’t have a copy to upload.
Should I download it and then re upload? SelfieCity (talk) 14:47, 21 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Gitanas Nausėda (cropped).jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Gitanas Nausėda (cropped).jpg]]) and the above demanded information in your request.

Want to show your participation in Wiki Loves Monuments 2019? Add {{User Wiki Loves Monuments 2019}} to your userpage!

Hello! Last year you contributed to Wiki Loves Monuments 2018 in the United States. Thanks to people like you it was a great success, with over 1,900 people contributing over 10,000 photos of cultural and historic sites from all over the country. Hundreds of these photos now help illustrate Wikipedia articles, improving our open knowledge about United States history, culture, and heritage. If you haven't seen the winners yet, be sure to check them out here.

I'm pleased to say that we're back this year with Wiki Loves Monuments 2019 in the United States, and I'd like to welcome you to participate once again in the event. Check out our updated event page for more information. Just like last year, you'll be able to upload your photos of any registered historical site in the United States through the end of September (even if the photos were taken before this month).

If you've traveled and taken photos of monuments in non-US countries, you can see if those countries are also participating here.

Once again, thank you for participating in Wiki Loves Monuments 2018, and we hope to see you again in this year's event! If you'd like to respond to this message directly, please do so on on my talk page. ~Kevin Payravi (talk) 05:16, 1 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks for your help once more! MichaelMaggs (talk) 15:35, 3 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Want to show your participation in Wiki Loves Monuments 2019? Add {{User Wiki Loves Monuments 2019}} to your userpage!

September 30th is the last day to upload photos for Wiki Loves Monuments! We're thrilled that the United States has almost reached 4,000 contributions so far this year. Of these images, ~370 (~9%) have already been used to help illustrate Wikipedia articles and pages on other wiki projects, which is fantastic.

If you've already made a photo contribution this year, thanks so much! If you have any last-minute photos of U.S. historical sites to upload and enter into the contest, today's the day to do it. Check out the United States event page for more information. Judging will take place throughout the month of October, after which the top-ten national finalists will be announced in early November.

If you've traveled and taken photos of monuments in non-US countries, you can see if those countries are also participating here.

As always, thank you for participating in Wiki Loves Monuments! If you'd like to respond to this message directly, please do so on on my talk page. ~Kevin Payravi (talk) 05:49, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Creating a category for banners I create[edit]

Some users of Wikivoyage who create a lot of pagebanners, like User:AndreCarrotflower, have a category for all banners they have created. I intend to do the same, and it may take a while. Therefore, I'll be going through my contributions and making a lot of category-related edits in the near future. SelfieCity (talk) 20:57, 7 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Wikivoyage banner image of Franklin Camp graves image[edit]

Hello SelfieCity:

Sir John Franklin Banner

I noticed that you had created a WikiVoyage banner from one of my Franklin Camp grave images at Beechey Island in the Canadian High Arctic. I appreciate your extra efforts here but feel the clipping of the top of the farthest grave could be better. I am open to any case you would make but it is my intention to upload a replacement for your 7:1 banner image, re-cropped from the RAW original to show all of the graves. In Canada, this is a significant historical site and I want to present the image of the Franklin Camp graves in the best way possible.

Best,

--GRDN711 (talk) 21:31, 29 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Feel free to change the image as you like, though if it’s replacing the one I uploaded, I’ll remove the category “banners created by SelfieCity”. Also as a note, the bottom and top-left corners of Wikivoyage banners are hidden by text on the website, so pagebanners should be cropped with that in mind.
But yes, don’t worry if you have a different idea I have no opposition whatsoever. My main goal with regard to Wikivoyage page banners is just to get a custom banner for each place, rather than perfecting each individual one. SelfieCity (talk) 22:34, 29 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Spring Hill, Florida banner[edit]

I see you made a Wikivoyage banner for Spring Hill, Florida. If I had known you were going to do that, I would've recommended the picture below. ----DanTD (talk) 18:17, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Because this one defines Spring Hill more specifically. The other one looks like any random suburban roadway.
I was looking for an image at least 2100 pixels wide, but I can use that one if you prefer. I understand the reasoning. SelfieCity (talk) 18:25, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This file may be deleted.
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Bessarabia Banner.jpg, is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such works would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a map that has been altered from the original. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.

Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted. If you created the original content yourself, enter this information as the source. If someone else created the content, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you!

Pay attention to copyright
File:Rocklin Banner.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.

The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.)

  • This file is a copyright violation for the following reason: Contemporary artwork in Rocklin on a private building. It was clearly painted in the 20th or 21st century. Highly unlikely it is public domain. Per COM:FOP US, it must be deleted.
Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Making gubernatorial election maps[edit]

Hi, thanks for making the Nebraska gubernatorial election maps, I have been busy working on alot of maps and was wondering if you could please make county maps for the remaining elections for the years 1932, 1928, 1918, and 1914?

Hi, I will think about this, particularly for 1932 as the election results table is easy to find. However as that shows only total votes for each county, assembling the document into a map takes an hour or two of work for each map. I will think about it. SelfieCity (talk) 19:10, 28 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, it was just too time consuming for me, apologies. But thanks for considering it. SelfieCity (talk) 20:22, 28 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Can you send me what you made so far? I can probably do the rest on inkscape Putitonamap98 (talk)

You can just upload the svg file here on Commons, send me the link and I will fill in the remaining counties and upload a new version of the file Putitonamap98 (talk)

Hi, I have only done the one election, but if you want the base file, of the counties, and the PDF with the results listed, I'd be glad to supply those. SelfieCity (talk) 21:43, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yes please if you can upload them and supply a link that will be great, thank you Putitonamap98 (talk)

First the PDFs:
1932
1928
1918
Unfortunately, 1914 does not appear to be available. I will get to uploading the map soon. SelfieCity (talk) 23:59, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, thank you I will complete the map after you upload what has been made so far Putitonamap98 (talk) 23:59, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Putitonamap98: On a second view, I think all the data I have is File:1934 Nebraska gubernatorial election results map by county.svg. I've checked this over and I don't think there's anything else. Sorry about the late response; however, the above is an .svg file that can be used to create other maps. SelfieCity (talk) 20:08, 15 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
