It says it all[edit]

Right back at you. It says it all LOL russavia (talk) 07:07, 24 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well, thanks God, not all Polish girls are slightly eccentric just like me. My name is not on the T-shirt:-( Well, that is because my name is not popular. If I see such a T-shirt I will buy one for you and send it to Australia:-) I only don't know how you will explain that to Australian girls, but it will be your problem, not mine:-) --Seleucidis (talk) 20:20, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Could you help to translate this please?[edit]

Hi there, here I have a short text that I am using to send to Flickr photographers to request that the relicence their stream under CC-BY-SA. I have quite a few Polish streams to contact, and I think that if I make the request in Polish I might be more successful. Would you please be so kind as to help to translate that text there for me, so that I can start using it in the near future. Any help appreciated. Cheers, russavia (talk) 18:14, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Done. I will still read it once more tomorrow with a fresh mind. It is a free translation, the meaning of your words in Polish, fluent/easy to read. Greetings. --Seleucidis (talk) 20:20, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi[edit]

Glad to have one more friend from Poland. Hope Kraków, Warsaw, Plock and Vilnius are not far from your home. JKadavoor Jee 03:02, 3 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I was (kindly) surprised to find a citation of Saint Faustina on your user page. I lived in Kraków for some time. I visited the Sanctuary of the Divine Mercy in Kraków-Łagiewniki, which is dedicated to Faustina. It is a modern church, but there are many old, historical churches in Kraków, the most famous is [1] and probably the smallest ones are: this one and that one. Yet another citation from a Polish woman Irena Sendler: ... people should be divided only into good and bad. The colour of skin, religion, ancestry or status – are not of importance. The only thing that counts is what kind of human being they are (my translation), but ... a person must be rescued when drowning, regardless of religion and nationality or other factors in my opinion. Greetings. Seleucidis (talk) 10:19, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Seleucidis for sharing your memories and experience on Saint Faustina and Devine Mercy. I would like to visit those places one day. I just read Irena Sendler and her thoughts and life are very inspiring. Today I visited the page of Saint Casimir curiously to find his details as I have to attend a wedding ceremony on next week at St. Casimir's Church, Kollam.
"... a person must be rescued when drowning, regardless of religion and nationality or other factors in my opinion." Do you think I'm on the opposite side? No. Thank you for sharing your valuable time with me. JKadavoor Jee 13:35, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Onam greetings![edit]

Have a nice Onam tomorrow! JKadavoor Jee 17:19, 15 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

OnaSadya
JKadavoor, thank you very much. It looks delicious and I like rice and dishes with rice. I usually choose brown rice, because it contains more vitamins and minerals, but yes, white rice has a more royal taste. I have just read the article about Onam feest (there is even a short article on pl-wp) and I have read about OnaSadya food celebration. Unfortunately we don't have an article about OnaSadya on pl-wp. I have found a few sources written in English about OnaSadya, so maybe one day I will try to write a small article about it. I am interested in cuisines of other countries and I have contributed some articles about Dutch cuisine. Articles about dishes from other countries are always very popular and have a lot of views as DYK. I have also found two sources of pictures: [2] and [3] about OnaSadya. Do you maybe know if we can upload them to Commons? Or maybe you will be able to make your own pictures illustrating Onam and OnaSadya? It would be very nice if you could. I wish you a good time during Onam. Greetings. Seleucidis (talk) 09:42, 16 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

And of course, a big thank you for putting a leg up by doing what you do on Commons, and helping to make it the fantastic project that it is. Greetings from a warm west coast of Aussie. russavia (talk) 02:01, 24 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Picture of the Year 2013 R2 Announcement[edit]

Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2013 is open![edit]

2012 Picture of the Year: A pair of European Bee-eaters in Ariège, France.

Dear Wikimedians,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2013 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2013) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. The top 30 overall and the most popular image in each category have continued to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just one image to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 2 will end on 7 March 2014. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Commons:Picture_of_the_Year/2013/Introduction/en Click here to learn more and vote »]
