Hello, Seb az86556!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Wow, a specialised map in Navajo! Awesome! Steinbach (talk) 19:02, 29 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ahéheeʼ ("thanks"), we try... :) Seb az86556 (talk) 01:14, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Navajo Reservation increases[edit]

ditto the WOW! Especially like the map showing increases in the Naabeehó Bináhásdzo (? Official Reservation, my Navajo is about zero). --Rcollman (talk) 23:07, 11 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please wait to check for the logo information on the wikis themselves. I've been doing that for the last few hours and we'll be duplicating work if you do that. Please just wait and then we can work on it together after I finish this. :-) Cbrown1023 talk 23:44, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

well, see, I didn't know that. it would be better if this was more transparent... no? Seb az86556 (talk) 23:47, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You edited m:Wikipedia logo in each language... that's what I've been updating. I would think you'd notice the page growing and changing, without me having to explicitly state it. All of the work is happening on-wiki, so you can see everything I'm doing in a transparent way. Cbrown1023 talk 23:49, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
OHHH. that's meta... see I'm doing the worksheet. Seb az86556 (talk) 23:52, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but the work you're doing on the Worksheet crosses over with what I'm doing on Meta-Wiki. I'm adding all of the projects there and putting the project name/tagline name on that page, which you'll use to make your sections on the worksheet. Cbrown1023 talk 23:54, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hold up on the logos, Seb--I'm going to have to redo the ones you've done in Latin, the ratio of Caps to Smallcaps is wrong on many of these, Use Linux Libertine O C and 27 point font. The second line needs to be as wide as the first line on almost all of them with few exceptions, i.e., if the letter-spacing property has to be greater than 1.0, as with File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-ht.png. You may want to wait until I've gotten some better directions written down. Bastique ☎ appelez-moi! 19:40, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
yeah, well... proper instructions might indeed help. Seb az86556 (talk) 03:53, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm assuming that you have seen the guide on Foundationwiki, right Seb? (If you have, then sorry, I was confused by the talk about "proper instructions". There are instructions, they just weren't completely complete.) Cbrown1023 talk 19:56, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've added a number of instructions for Inkscape. The chief thing to remember is that in Inkscape, we should be using Linux Libertine O C for the "Wikipedia" text. Some of these will be difficult to render and require some slight changes (See File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-sg.svg which was extremely difficult to figure out the right amount of changes to make it still look right.) Bastique ☎ appelez-moi! 00:09, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. thanks. I have the feeling you are breaking the left-right limits set by the blue guides on some of these. I was under the impression that staying within those limits is mandatory under all circumstances... (Thus my "squeezing" on some of them) Seb az86556 (talk) 11:12, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well, maybe we have to look at each of them individually. Some of them cannot possibly remain in those limits, but it might take an official call (from someone who can make that call) for those to pass the muster. In those cases it might be best to get approval first. Bastique ☎ appelez-moi! 16:40, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'd be happy to go over those boundaries where it's feasible. I agree some of them look quite "retarded" right now. In any case, my main machine is squatted on by a virus right now, so I won't be able to do much anymore... :( Seb az86556 (talk) 04:56, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Photo usage[edit]

Hi, I'm working on an educational videogame with which I'm trying to build a bridge between animal awareness and Pokemon fans among others. It started out as something small and I contacted you before, but it's getting bigger and more professional and I wanted to make sure you were ok with it. I saw one of your pictures: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Hispaniolan_Solenodon_crop.jpg

And I would like your permission to use it under that license with the following attribution: Seb az86556, http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Seb_az86556

Also, because I want to make sure there's no misunderstanding, you are the original photographer correct? It sometimes happens that another person simply takes a picture from somebody else and uploads it to wikipedia with a license to distribute. That is why I'm asking.

There is more information on the game here, including a short video that tells a little bit about the background: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/238178285/animalalbum

I also have a demo version of the game available so you can see for yourself in what way the pictures are presented: http://dromedarydreams.com/index/demo/0-8

Please let me know if I have your permission, if the picture is yours and if you want a different attribution.

With kind regards, Sjors Jansen (all.animalalbum@gmail.com) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Garfunkel_Jansen

honduras[edit]

honduras is apart of OAS. --Ty Rezac (talk) 01:05, 7 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

and why are you telling me this? Seb az86556 (talk) 05:42, 7 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
File:Palestinian infobox v2.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Tunicate image[edit]

Hi there,

Saw your move request at [what is now] File:Tunicate off Atauro island.jpg. I came across this issue a little while back and started a thread about it here: User_talk:Nhobgood#Combjelly.jpg. So far it's been called a comb jelly (we can rule this out), a salp, a pyrosome, and just a tunicate. For now, it seems best to err on the side of caution and just call it a tunicate. If you have some additional evidence you can provide, I'd encourage you to add to the thread on the uploader's talk page. Thanks. — Rhododendrites talk23:59, 10 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Crops[edit]

Hello! I notice you recently uploaded File:Chiropterotriton dimidiatus.jpg and File:Chiropterotriton lavae.jpg, among others. However, you altered the given license ( is the original license, not ) and obscured the source publication. Please pay attention to licenses. It looks like several other of your recent uploads have incorrect share-alike licenses. In the future, you might consider using Commons:CropTool, which easily and faithfully transfers all license and metadata to the new image, and automatically places Image extracted on the source and Extracted from on the crop: see for instance File:Chiropterotriton magnipes.jpg. Let me know if you have any questions. Cheers, --Animalparty (talk) 17:58, 9 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi[edit]

Look, that issue was in the past. All I've done is add a map, there has been no replacing of anything. Thylacinus cynocephalus (talk) 20:05, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Auriparus flaviceps[edit]

Hi Seb - out of curiosity, Auriparus flaviceps seems to be one of very few birds lacking a Navajo language page and Navajo name on Wikidata, despite it being a bird which must be familiar to many Navajo people. Omitted by oversight? Hope this is a useful reminder! - MPF (talk) 21:59, 31 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
