If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. Hi Rose Abrams,
Thank you for your contributions to Commons. I noticed File:World map of opinions on Xinjiang camps.svg is out of date. Misinformation: Gambia is not shown to have supported the re-education camps, while one dude may have supported it one time, according to one pro China source Could you update it? Thanks again. Geographyinitiative (talk) 06:57, 23 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Geographyinitiative: No. One person's single statement shouldn't represent a whole county. I've already had this discussion on other talk pages. You can update it yourself if you feel it needed, but I'm not taking the responsibility. Gaioa (talk) 08:58, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Rose Abrams,
Thank you for your contributions to Commons. I noticed File:World map of opinions on Xinjiang camps.svg is out of date. “In January 2020, the Bahrain Council of Representatives called on the international community to protect Uyghur Muslims in China and "expressed deep concern over the inhumane and painful conditions to which Uyghur Muslims in China are subjected,”, hence their position seems unclear; Their neighbor state Qatar withdrew support too. Could you update it? Thanks again. Geographyinitiative (talk) 08:29, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Geographyinitiative: ✓ Done partially. I coloured Bahrain red, but Qatar was already grey.

Hi Rose Abrams,
Thank you for your contributions to Commons. I noticed File:World map of opinions on Xinjiang camps.svg is out of date. Is Taiwan really a "Governments that has not diplomatically expressed an opinion on Xinjiang re-education camps"? Is the Bahrain Council opinion enough to overturn the diplomatic position from 2019? Could you update it? Thanks again. Geographyinitiative (talk) 09:06, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for working on it. I outline further opinions here [1] I am raising legitimate questions that lead to all kinds of changes to the map, which is concerning given I am not an expert in this subject matter. Geographyinitiative (talk) 09:11, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Rose Abrams,
Thank you for your contributions to Commons. I noticed File:World map of opinions on Xinjiang camps.svg is out of date. China was part of the joint statement from October 2019. It must be represented in green as well to capture the correct spirit of the document. Could you update it? Thanks again. Geographyinitiative (talk) 20:59, 26 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Wikimedian,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2022 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the seventeenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2022) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the two most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 1 will end on UTC.

Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee
