Welcome to Wikimedia Commons, Rokarudi!

I looked at only one of them, but the images you are trying to put here seem to be on Wikipedia, not Commons. The best thing is to upload them to Commons -- if you don't, eventually someone else will. . . . . Jim . . . . Jameslwoodward (talkcontribs) 13:13, 10 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Rokarudi!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

New Galleries --Ghelinţa-Gelence‎[edit]

Hello, again.

It's helpful when you're creating a new gallery if either

 • you create it in a sandbox -- such as User:Rokarudi/Sandbox1 and then copy it to the main space when it is ready
 • or you put a note at the top that there is more coming soon.

New pages often get patrolled (examined for whether they are acceptable or not) very quickly. In this case, I patrolled the page after you created it but before you put any images in it. Some patrollers would have deleted it at that moment because it had no images or other files. In this case, I decided to leave it for a little while, which is good, because it looks like a useful page. Regards, . . . . Jim . . . . Jameslwoodward (talkcontribs) 17:17, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much. I am new with imagaes. So, please feel more than free to advise me whenever you feel necessary. I am trying to upload to Commons images which are scattered in different wikiprojects for villages so that they can be added easier to articles in different languages. Rokarudi--Rokarudi (talk) 21:23, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
So far with this, it looks like you are doing fine. If you have questions, feel free to ask. What you are doing is exactly what Commons is for -- a place for images for everyone in every language. . . . . Jim . . . . Jameslwoodward (talkcontribs) 23:44, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful information about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

stop[edit]

Please stop what you are doing, the same old problem, forcing Hungarian names where we have wiki policies. Please stop. Consider this a friendly warning. Please reconsider your approach to editing. Iadrian yu (talk) 22:55, 12 June 2010 (UTC) As long as you were absent from Commons, there was place here for constructive works. It seems this era of peace and tranquility is over, your chasing of Hungarian names has started here, too. Rokarudi--Rokarudi (talk) 23:11, 12 June 2010 (UTC)--Rokarudi (talk) 23:13, 12 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What you are doing is anything but constructive. After failing to force Hungarian names of English Wiki you started you "project" here. If you would stop for a second and think that what you are doing for places in Romania is inappropriate as proven before. Bare in mind that my actions are not done without consulting an Administrator on problematic matters, like this one. Check the naming policy (you are familiar by now) and stop your little crusade. Iadrian yu (talk) 23:37, 12 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Category names should be generally in English (see Commons:Language policy). However there are exceptions: • The real policy with regard to proper names of individual persons, places, buildings, organizations etc. and other stable specific names of local phenomena is multifarious, full consensus isn't achieved yet. See current practices and discussion pages. Rokarudi--Rokarudi (talk) 23:39, 12 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A dispute about these categories was brought to my attention. The content in Category:Gheorgheni/Gyergyószentmiklós is now in Category:Gheorgheni as this is in line with our category policy. If you don't agree you can open a Cfd. I would highly recommend you to not just revert the edits. Multichill (talk) 09:39, 13 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In category policy, I can see nothing about names of settlements which are inhabited mostly by a national minority and which have no established English name. As I know, in the European Union, names in language of a local national minority are official just like names in the main country-wide language. --ŠJů (talk) 22:38, 13 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I absolutely agree with ŠJů. I would like to add that these categories lived in peace for years until Iadrian yu (currently on 2RR for edit warring on English wikipedia) arrived here. His main activity is to promote predominance of Romanian placenames over Hungarian names in Transylvania for places inhabited by Hungarian people. The commons category policy is not identical with English wikipedia naming policies. Iadrian yu only brings conflict here. This is a multilingual project and multilungualism should be tolerated as long as usability permits it. As Iadrian yu changes the status quo it is him who has to open Cfd. Rokarudi--Rokarudi (talk) 11:08, 14 June 2010 (UTC)--Rokarudi (talk) 11:17, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
 • Please stop with the personal attacks and information that are irrelevant for this matter (like when I was on 2RR restriction because of your canvasing with other user - Let it go already and discuss the matter for a change). I will not continue this "mud throwing" for the sake of this discussion, even if I would have many things to say like the black ribbon [1] for the 90th anniversary of the Treaty of Trianon which shows the motivation of this user.... It is useless to repeat myself with you because you are so indoctrinated.
 • "This is a multilingual project and multilungualism should be tolerated as long as usability permits it." and " promote predominance of Romanian placenames"- this has no sense as usual. Looks like you still don`t understand that Romanian nameplaces in Romania(Transylvania region) are in primary use/have predominance- which is shocking of course :-).
 • "His main activity is to promote predominance of Romanian placenames over Hungarian names in Transylvania for places inhabited by Hungarian people." I don`t think this is correct since your account has a singe purpose, to promote Hungarian-ness. Usability don`t permits elevating alternative name to official one. This is nonsense as well because if it would be this problem it is solved with REDIRECTS on the alternative(Hungarian) names. Also, as explained in the first comment, we have a policy that regulates this, it would be nice that every user who wants to be a part of this project to respect it`s rules. You want to change the rules so if you want, you can open a Cfd to confirm this.
 • If there would be further discussions I would like for everyone to use the [2] and discuss it there since I was accused of "harassing" just when talking to this user so I will not reply anymore on his talk page.Iadrian yu (talk) 13:52, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
In democratic countries, paralleled using of two official name forms is a standard solution for settlements inhabited by a national minority (see here as example). Commons hardly can invent some more ingenious or simpler treatment. In politically sensitive regions, bilinguality can be more acceptable compromise than to prefer one of two forms. First of all, let's stop to desinterpret Commons rules which give no special recommendation for such cases. --ŠJů (talk) 14:59, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
As Multichill warned me not to revert what he had approved for Iadrian yu as being in line with Commons rules, moreover, as he has already used admin tools (robot) to enforce his opinion, in order to avoid misunderstandings, I would like to request Multichill to clarify to what extent he shares the views of Iadrian yu as to the compulsary appearance of Romanian (official) placenames on Commons with respect to places in Transylvania inhabited by ethnic minorities. Notably, please let us know, do you hold the view that with respect to such settlements both category and gallery titles (1) must be under Romanian name, or (2) may both be under Hungarian name if local majority is Hungarian (3) or category title must be Romanian while gallery may be in both or bilingual like Bruxelles - Brussel or Bolzano - Bozen or Aosta - Aoste, or this latter practice is only applicable for Western-Europe. Just in brackets: I uploaded and transferred dozens of Transylvania related pictures and I almost always added a Romanian translation, so I simply refuse uncivil statements as to my being impatient in this respect.
