Oklahoma images public domain[edit]

Hello! I am looking to upload some images of members of the Oklahoma House of Representatives. I saw that you uploaded File:EmilyVirgin.jpg, and stated that it was public domain. I'm not seeing anything about that on the OK Legislature page, and the Upload Wizard has public domain listings for NASA and the Federal Government, but I'm not seeing anything about a state government. Hey, Balon! It appears Oklahoma's Legislative Service Bureau gave permission to use members' official photo portraits. Not all states are so generous. In the Upload Wizard, when you get to Permission, select "Another reason not mentioned above" and use the copyright tag {{PD-OK-LSBPD}}. Happy uploading! Virginia Senate Districts[edit]

Hello! I'm looking for historic maps of the Virginia House of Delegates or Senate districts. House of Delegates would be ideal, but Senate districts will also work. Where did you get your data? Hey, Scq5pe. Images like File:Virginia senate districts 1908.png, 1912, and 1916 that I created myself were made quite easily using free maps of Virginia counties and independent cities. I obtained the data from resources like A Register of the General Assembly of Virginia, 1776-1918, and of the Constitutional Conventions, which lists the makeup of each district. From the late nineteenth century through the first couple of decades of the twentieth century, state senatorial lines (and house lines, though to a lesser extent) rarely ignored existing political boundaries. This is unheard of nowadays thanks to equal-population requirements and gerrymandering.
Post-1923 legislative manuals and other documents have these sorts of district descriptions, and some, I believe, even have maps, but it's difficult to find these digitized online thanks to copyright. I have some member lists going into the 40s that I obtained on a trip a few years ago to the Library of Virginia that I'd be happy to share if you like. It was my intent to get this information onto Wikipedia at some point, as I did with 109th Virginia General Assembly, though doing so is quite a lot of work, and I haven't gotten around to it. West Virginia blue book images[edit]

Hello. Hope you’re doing well today. I noticed you uploaded some photos that came from the West Virginia blue book. The copyright license mentions it is public domain. Is there anywhere that confirms its status? I have a few images I’d like to upload and want to be sure it’s good to do so. I didn’t find anything that said it was public domain, so I’m checking with you.
