User talk:RadRafe~commonswiki
Hello - thank you for providing images to the wikimedia commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to the commons should be useful to all users of wikimedia projects - this is possible only if the images can be found by other people. To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should either place the images on topic pages (galleries), or put the images directly into a category, or do both. Which of those possibilities is preferred is however a matter of debate, see here.
The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There is a large number of completely unsorted images on the commons right now, see Commons:Really unused. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do! Thank you. -- Duesentrieb 18:48, 29 May 2005 (UTC)
- And thank you for your kind welcome, Duesentrieb. To tell the truth, I hesitate to even explore the structure; it intimidates me for some reason. —RadRafe 4 July 2005 13:48 (UTC)
Image:Dead pines.jpg[edit]
Hi Rad - just to let you know I've indexed this one at Pinus contorta. Maybe there's a beetle page it should go at too. PS nice pic! - MPF 16:22, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Image:Grass on Foothills.jpg[edit]
Hi Rad - this one looks like Lolium perenne (Ryegrass) to me - MPF 4 July 2005 15:02 (UTC)
According to Commons:Licensing, "Screenshots of software that is itself not under a free license [are generally not allowed]. Screenshots of software under the GPL or a similar free software license are generally considered to be OK." The Mac OS X user interface is indeed copyrighted. This could go on an individual project (e.g., Wikipedia), but can't go on commons:. alerante 13:59, 6 November 2005 (UTC)
- So what do I do? —RadRafe 17:57, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
- I've placed a {{fairuse}} tag on it; it should be deleted in a few days, and then it can be re-uploaded at the projects that use it. alerante 19:32, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
Image deletion warning | Image:City_of_Glass_cover.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. |

Hi Rad, I simply love this picture. I would like to use it as part of my first CD's enlay, if you agree. I have an independent rock band in Brazil, and it's going to be our debut album. Of course I will give you the credit for that one. Let me know if it's ok for, please. --Rafaelpompeu (talk) 18:44, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, of course. Sorry about the delay; I'm not on here much anymore. Yes, you can use this photo. In fact, since I committed it to the public domain, it's no longer copyrighted and I do not have the power to deny any usage of it. I would be happy to be attributed as Rafe Saltman. —RadRafe (talk) 15:22, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Your account will be renamed[edit]
Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called RadRafe. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name RadRafe~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
