Yuan Tseh Lee[edit]

The photos from Lawrence Berkeley Library can not be uploaded to WikiCommons. The reason is that the library do not allow commercial use of the photos [1]: "These images may not be used for commercial purposes, noting exceptions for scientific or educational use as referenced above. The Laboratory will consider and respond to written requests for specific usage."

Image:Openoffice2-screenshot.png[edit]

I put Image:Openoffice2-screenshot.png under {{Incomplete license}} because I don't think it should be under PD since its from a program copyrighted under LGPL. Instead shouldn't it be {{Free screenshot}}{{LGPL}}. However all this licensing stuff makes my head spin so I may be wrong, and if that is so I apologize for the incovidance. Speedy deletion[edit]

Hi R.O.C,

I noticed you marked several Chinese province maps, such as Image:Weifang.png, as speedy delete because they were "redundant". This map is actually different to other map - they're not versions of the same image. "Redundancy" like this is not a speedy deletion criteria, so I have removed the speedy delete tags from them.

If you want images like this deleted, please list them on COM:DEL with your reason. But I should tell you, I don't think they will be deleted. There is a policy proposal at the momentCommons:Village pump/Policy proposal:No deletion of improved versions of images which you can comment on if you like.

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
