Thanks for uploading Image:NPPFormationGathering.JPG. This image is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or send an email with copy of a written permission to OTRS (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org).

Unless the permission information is given, the image may be speedy deleted after seven days. Thank you. LX (talk, contribs) 18:50, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, LX.
You tagged 'copyright warning' on the images I uploaded.
I sent an email to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org and they will see the evidence.
But if it's not enough to prove, could you tell me how to prove more 'properly'? Pudmaker (talk) 18:48, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Please respect my request to keep discussions where they started, as this makes conversations easier to follow. I am watching this page, so I will see responses made here.
I don't have access to the OTRS, so I can't say whether the e-mail you sent in is sufficient. I believe the OTRS staff will contact you if it's not. I've replaced No permission since with Otrs pending. LX (talk, contribs) 20:27, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I felt like it's uncomfortable to upload files in here, WikiCommons. But I understand I have to follow the copyright policy. I got a proper proof for this, and I wanted the OTRS team to take it in righteous way. Pudmaker (talk) 02:18, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Pudmaker. Could you send another email to the OTRS volunteers as I see it's been tagged with Otrs pending since June 12. You uploaded several images from http://nanjoong.net but there's no proof that they've released the images under Creative Commons license.
Also, I've deleted Image:Rank1 Piet.jpg. Please read about Flickr licenses acceptable by Wikimedia Commons. Let me know if you have any questions, I'll add this page to my watch list. --Kimse (talk) 05:09, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

questions about File:Rank1 Piet.jpg[edit]

I saw you deleted this. But it was really under CC-BY-SA license. I remember I tagged original link of that picture, and you can see the original copyright holder claiming it is CC-BY-SA. I cannot understand the reason of deletion. Pudmaker (talk) 06:39, 10 September 2008 (UTC) Sorry, it was CC-BY-NC. Pudmaker (talk) 06:43, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

nanjoong.net[edit]

It is a website of a South Korean politician. Its materials are released in the 'copyleft' license.(you can see "NO COPYRIGHT, JUST COPYLEFT" message in the main page) I know 'copyleft' is not Wikimedia-compatible, so I send an e-mail to the administrator of the site, and he sent me back and said "It is under CC-BY-SA license. You can upload every picture on nanjoong.net".

I am still keeping the original e-mail I've sent and got back. I also sent the e-mails to OTRS team, but there was no reply. Of course, the mails are written in Korean language which you might not read, so it may be a problem. What should I do? Pudmaker (talk) 06:39, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Pudmaker. Yes, Image:Rank1 Piet.jpg was cc-by-nc and is not acceptable on Commons, as you know. Copyleft, on the other hand, is acceptable on Commons. But as long as nanjoong.net website licenses their images under cc-by-sa, this should be fine as well. Don't worry about the OTRS, they'll find somebody who speaks Korean to check the license. The review usually takes a few days, so if you've just sent the request, we'll wait and see what they say. If you have more questions, don't hesitate to ask. Thanks for your contributions. --Kimsə (talk) 05:18, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I sent a mail to OTRS Pudmaker (talk) 05:40, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Pudmaker. Let me know when you hear back from OTRS team. --Kimsə (talk) 22:12, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I got a mail from OTRS team. See this: Pudmaker (talk) 03:47, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dear pudmaker@****.**.**,

Thank you for your email.

Please add this code: PermissionOTRS to the image description page(s) as you probably know best which images to tag.

Thank you for your contribution to Wikimedia Commons.

Yours sincerely, Pieter De Praetere

 • Okay, the problem is resolved. I don't know if this OTRS permission applies to all photographs from nanjoong.net - if it does, you can add the same OTRS permission to them. Thank you for your contributions! Don't hesitate to contact me for further questions. --Kimsə (talk) 07:51, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Pudmaker!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Thanks for noticing. I've placed profer categories to them. Pudmaker (talk) 01:49, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:NPPreps.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with GFDL to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with PD-self to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Thanks for uploading File:NPPreps.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:File:NPPreps.jpg) and the above demanded information in your request.
