Hello, Paname-IV!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

What fur is it?

Fine. Thank you. --Kürschner (talk) 07:33, 13 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You are welcome. Sorry that you had to modify my category ! Sometimes they are very precise and most often I don't find simple ones, like "chapeau" in this case.

You made it great. I am only specialist for furs. I just put your panama hat on the German page. http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panama-Hut
Have a look here: http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Обсуждение:Ушанка. Auf Wiedersehen --Kürschner (talk) 13:31, 13 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I could make a photo of a nice brown Merino cap purchased in Kastoria last year if you think it has an interest for someone. I saw the lambs on your page ;o)

You have been in Kastoria? This is one of the things I have to do before I die... You got fotos from there? From a Furrier's shop? :)
I wait for your Merino cap for categorizing.
I have a book, also with Kastorian fur traders. A Greek historian wanted to buy it, but I won't. I promised him to upload the relevant pages to commons. And decided, to load up all, over 100 pages. But now I have the problem, the uploader for so much images, called Commonist, will not work with me, I do not know why. And know I must load them all by hand, awful, it's not funny. Here I started: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Ledger_of_the_fur_trader_Dedo_in_Leipzig,_1876-1885 --Kürschner (talk) 13:49, 13 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Kastoria and its region are a very nice place for holidays. I have no photo of furrier's shops but something that could interest you. cf "Fur panel kastoria.JPG". This is ubiquitous in the streets of old Kastoria. Feel free to improve the entry. I guessed it was mink but tell me if I have to change something. I would be happy if it can illustrate some article. The cap was not easy to photograph. I tried my best to find categories. "Merino cap.JPG" Good luck with the uploading of your book !

Found :) - thank you! I saw it - thought, that must it be, and it was. A fine picture and very fine categorized! Today somebody gave me the right hint for uploading my Kastorian book. A good day! Have a nice evening! --Kürschner (talk)
I just saw your message up there - oh yes, that's my day, I found the mink plate too. I completed your entry and I will use it in the German Wikipedia in 'Nerzfell' and in 'Kastoria'. My wife asked me to make holidays there - before I saw your message. Thank you very much, ask me, if I can help you anywhere. The German furrier = --Kürschner (talk) 21:20, 14 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Have good holidays there then. You can fly to Corfu and rent a car. Most luxury fur shops don't open all the year round there. Beginning of June is perfect for tourism but not for business for example.

Danke! --Kürschner (talk) 13:54, 15 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I got a present from my family: A journey to Kastoria next year. Great! --Kürschner (talk) 08:35, 1 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I wonder how they guessed you would like it ;-)

I too. --Kürschner (talk) 19:39, 8 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Pas0.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

Lombards Museum[edit]

Hi Paname-IV, we're having a discussion as to the identity and location of Lombards Museum, on the village pump Commons:Village_pump#Lombards_Museum.3F, could you please enlighten us as we're dying of curiousity. It would also be worthwhile creating an institution category for the files.--KTo288 (talk) 20:14, 28 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

--Túrelio (talk) 14:46, 8 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Now that you have the illustrations, you can write a book! Happy Year 2015!

Just today I got the 2 books from Wikipedia, only with my articles about fur skins. Really great and exclusive made! And not expensive. Nearly 1000 Pages and 1000 pictures. Best wishes for the coming year too!
The Kastoria article exists here: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pelzreste#Kastoria_und_Siatista

Very impressive scholarly work, next step will be to translate it into English ;-)

Please, feel so free ;) --Kürschner (talk) 13:43, 31 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Cordialement. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Paname-IV (talk • contribs) 17:43, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
