User talk:Okapi~commonswiki
Hi, I noticed that althoug your piranha photo (which is currently a commons FPC) is of good quality, you don't seem to have compressed it for the benefit of those with slow internet connections. Please consider doing this in the future.
Thanks --fir0002 05:56, 10 May 2005 (UTC)
I preferred quality over compression. It will be taken into concideration. --Okapi 21:15, 11 May 2005 (UTC)
image conditions[edit]
Hi,
Sturnusvulgaris_starling_young.jpg states that the photo may only be used if the photographer is informed about the use first. This makes the image non-free as per our copyright policy, unless this is merely a "good faith" request that doesn't have to be honored. I have asked the photographer for clarification whether this is the case, and would ask you to not upload images with mandatory "inform the photographer" conditions. Thanks,--Eloquence 12:03, 4 September 2005 (UTC)
This is indeed a good faith request. As commons is a picture central for all wikimedia, all pictures may by definition be used in all wikimedia without notification as the linking of the picture is being logged in commons. --Okapi 06:59, 5 September 2005 (UTC)
Your account will be renamed[edit]
Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Okapi. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Okapi~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
